Another carnival cruise without power

Sometimes you get what you pay for........those ships are dumps.

You have been on these ships?

I have never been on a cruise and frankly have no desire to go on one. Maybe I'm wrong but the thought of being stuck on a crowded ship does not appeal to me at all.

That said, I was open to the idea until I saw a documentary about one of those mega-ships a couple of years ago. The turnaround time in port is way too short to convince me those ships aren't filthy. There is no way they can thoroughly clean up after 3,000-5,000 passengers in a couple of hours. After I watched that, my husband and I said no way, no how.

They are constantly cleaning so it isn't an issue. The room stewards clean your cabin twice a day and the common areas are constantly being cleaned.

This is all extremely concerning but honestly Carnival can't be that bad. They have a large fleet of ships, sail to a ton of places around the world, and lots of people sail on their ships. There has to be something good about them aside from the price. They aren't free so people are paying something for whatever experience they provide. Will I sail Carnival? I have no idea. I'm happy with DCL right now and their ships don't sail anywhere out of the local ports that I want to sail to. Thing is there are people who LOVE Carnival. Gotta be something decent and fun about them I would think. It's horrible what's happened to these passengers lately. Carnival may have maintenance or production issues for sure. I hope they fix them so that no one else has to suffer.

I've sailed on Disney, princess, costa, and carnival. Lately we've been doing the Carnival not so much because of the price but because DS13 likes the kids club on carnival better than all the other lines - so Carnival it is.

And for the person concerned with the turn around time, and cleaning - they have additional cleaning staff at the home port who come on and help clean the cabins. That's how they are able to turn the rooms over so quickly.

American authorities work quite quickly when citizens have an emergency and need to get home without a passport. They wont deny you a medivac if you need one to save a life. More than likely there will be someone of authority with you at all times until they get the paperwork done. You have to have the same documents to board a ship as you do to get a passport.

Also, this stinks. I'm scared of something like the ships that get stuck at sea. I want to try cruising, but I'm nervous about getting sea-sick. I've wanted to book a cheapie carnival cruise before going all in on a 1000 plus one.

I posted a new thread so as not to highjack this one but I have a question in regards to cancellation. My DS and DDIL have booked on Carnival in November. They were not too concerned after the Triumph problem but with the Dream and teh Legend now having problems, coupled with the piggyback problem of having cruises on those ships canceled, they want to cancel. Unfortunately, while the purchased trip insurance, they also paid more upfront and were given a "super saver" rate. Sounded good at the time becasue they never cancel vacations, they had insurance so why not take the discount? Well there are no refunds.

If anyone has suggestions, can you head over to my thread? They have always traveled on NCL and now wish they just stuck with them.

The only reson we don't have 4000 passigners living ANOTHER 4 day two in HELL is that this time they were lucky enough to it did not happen as sea, they were in port

In 2 months the Desteny , the Triumph, the Dream and the Legend! Not to mention that the Triumph and the desteny both sailded with mechcanical issues. Yes Carnivail siad the magor issues with the triumpht at sailing had nothing to due with the fire,,,,,but it is preety obvious that Carnivail statments are getting to be pretty thin.over and over and over again.


It was reorted this morning there were head out of service and problems like the triumph, and Carnivail are calling them liers.


How long people?......due we need another Concordia? 32 dead!........(and no.it was not all the Captian, he was a foold, but there is others being investageted, including Carnivail Inc. in Miami!)


Yet time after time, you never hear from the owner of Carnival Inc, hes never around..........no statement s until days later...........Ho yes, he must be busy with his basketball team! While ship load after ship load of passionger are living though heel and /or scraied to death!

We have sailed with Carnival twice and just got off the Disney Dream a week ago. We enjoyed all three cruises. Overall we didn't find there to be much difference between the cruises. The Disney Dream was certainly a nicer ship but it was also much newer. The main dining room food was a bit better on Carnival but the buffets were better on Disney. We had no problems with service with either line, with a slight edge to Disney. Both had very good shows and entertainment. Both lines had rude guest so the thought that paying more for a Disney cruise would give you a better class of passengers is wrong.

I don't think you can't say they aren't being held accountable.
They have had to refund money, give away free cruises, suffer bad PR,and face court action.

There are 2 common factors, the ships involved have been owned by Carnival, and the ships involved were built by Fincantieri.

Carnival also owns and operates AIDA, Costa Cruises,
Cunard Line, Holland America Line, Ibero Cruises, P&O Cruises,
Princess and Seabourn and Ocean Village cruise lines and those lines have no issues.
And no other Fincantieri ships have had issues.

We have sailed with Carnival twice and just got off the Disney Dream a week ago. We enjoyed all three cruises. Overall we didn't find there to be much difference between the cruises. We found HUGE differences and 2 years ago we stated that we would never sail Carnival again. This was after DH said he wouldn't sail DCL again and Carnival would be just fine from here on out. WRONG. We hated it.

I have friends that love Carnival, they can have my spot. If Carnival was my only choice, I simply wouldn't cruise.

I suspect you have nothing to argue so you are going to the spell check thing, to be argumentative. Have you ever seen the test or study ( from Harvard, I believe) that says the human brain really only need the first and last letters and within the context of what is written it can be read? Maybe not.
