Another bad review for Chef Mickeys

we went to Chef Mickeys for brunch last week. The food was awful. The shrimp to peel was mushy and very dirty. Even I can clean shrimp better! The eggs were cold. The ham was so salty it was inedible. The clam chowder was goopy and full of potatoes not a clam in sight. The chicken salad was decent but almost $40 for a spoonful of chicken salad seems a little pricey! The characters were the only bright spot and my disabled adult daughter loved them. The real reason we went was to get on the monorail...we stayed offsite last week...and see the Christmas decorations at all the hotels. And we took the boat to wilderness resort.

Sorry you had a bad experience. We had dinner there 6 years ago, and we still cringe to even think about it. We go to WDW every year and that is by far the absolute worst meal we have every had at WDW. We were early in the dinner service time and still got a filthy restaurant (to the point where my husband who is not at all a neat freak asked if we were going to eat there); bad food- mostly inedible; runny liquid ice cream; watched serving tongs in chicken be dropped on the dirty floor by a kid and put back in the chicken- his mortified mother told the CM what her son had done so that it could be taken care of - and we watched that CM not only NOT change out the chicken, but put the tongs back in, and MIL got food poisoning. That was when DD was 3. She is 9 now and has always been a total character nut, and even she has never once wanted to go back there.

Very few places make our "never again" list... Chef Mickey's is one. I think they are aware as they have been sending a survey specifically for Chef Mickey's and it addresses a lot of issues regarding food quality and cleanliness. This could be a wonderful restaurant and every time we stay or visit CR I miss the Concourse Steakhouse so much.

We hadn't been in years so decided to go this summer for breakfast and were nderwhelmed. In our case, nothing was really wrong, the food was just very basic with little variety. The character interaction was minimal at best. Love Tusker a House and Crystal Palace breakfast so don't see us going back to Chef Mickey's again.

Sorry your experience at CM was not a pleasant one. I can't say that I am surprised. I chose to ignore the many negative reviews and try this place for myself. It is 90 minutes of my life I'll never get back. It was the most miserably, gosh awful dining experience I have ever had at WDW. Never again, it is a one and done for me. :crazy2::sad2::sick:

The only thing that keeps crossing my mind is....but they are so cute....

But then I remember every meal I've had there has been bland at best. The dinners are absolutely HORRIBLE...and for that price you could eat way way better. At least the breakfast is cheaper and just bland...but really...for a restaurant in an expensive hotel I do expect better. When you have The Wave and Cali Grill both serving lovely food it seems outrageous they can't get above average for Chef Mickeys...

I just can't bump anything I've got currently planned to even try it again...

Chef Mickey's has a wonderful opportunity to be great, and they aren't. It's sad, because I have such great memories of the place from when I was little. I'm scared to eat here again because I don't want to ruin that, so I'm waiting until reviews improve.

I'd recommend The Wave next time. You still get to eat at the Contemporary and see the Christmas decorations, and the food is miles better.

Like Akershus, if you're going to Chef Mickey's for the food, you're doing it wrong.

After going on a Disney Cruise... I'd almost say if you are going to Disney World for the characters, you're doing it wrong. ;)

But I have to agree.... the wait (even with ADR's), the poor food (breakfast) for the price, very noisy location, and the short time with the characters. Just not worth it in my book.
