Another bad decision by Disney management

I just learned that Disney did not renew/extend Brian Starons contract. For those of you who don't know, Brian is the magician with the 3 wheeled bike who performs on the Boardwalk. In my opinion, he is the best show, with the largest following on the Boardwalk. So once again, prices go up and talent level goes down.

Agree!!! :thumbsup2 I just sent my complaint email to Disney about this.

I'm curious as to why he was let go of?

Where do you register a complaint? My family loves watching Brain Star on the Boardwalk! He's really funny and entertaining.

maybe they are only looking to "freshen up" the entertainment at the Boardwalk?

No one here knows why he was let go. Could have been because Disney wants to add different performers. Could have been that the performer wanted something Disney was not willing to give them. Could have been over some other contract issue.

I will hold my opinion until there are actual facts.

This.

Why do people blame Disney on contract choices? I'm not drinking the flavored drink (I learned from my journalist daughter-in-law one shouldn't say "Kool-Aid") of Disney but come on - if you know the facts behind the decision, then post it. Otherwise, don't post that it's because of X or Y unless you know.

Same here. I can't complain until I know why. These things happen in show business all the time. It can happen for a number of legitimate reasons like those in the quoted post. Doesn't necessariy have to be a bad management decision. I'll also wait until there actual facts and details.

The Amazing Carlos was the best. I was upset when they didn't renew him and this guy took over. I guess they want to keep it fresh. ;)

Totally OT, but I'm fascinated! Why shouldn't one say "Kool-Aid?" The saying doesn't make much sense if you don't , because it was Kool-Aid they used (IIRC).

It wasn't Kool-Aid that was used in Jonestown, it was actually Flavor-Aid.

It appears to be quite clear that Disney World management has, for quite some time, been cancelling the contracts of live entertainers as a cost saving measure. Seldom have entertainers been replaced with live entertainers.

I have this information based on observation and information from entertainers and Cast Members close to entertainers who have not had contracts renewed. This certainly does not make me an expert but after observing this pattern now for several years I feel fairly confident in offering an opinion. Everyone has the right to disagree.

It's either because that's a brand name and you don't want to use a brand name if it's not the exact one used.

Or because that's a horrible, awful analogy (is it an analogy?) to make, to compare liking something like Disney, or a performer, to a cult leader causing the deaths of hundreds of people including children.

I'm guessing it's one of the two. (but calling it a flavored drink doesn't erase the fact that you're bringing up the specter of mass murder/suicide, so I'm guessing the journalist DIL doesn't want to use the brand name)

I've never been interested in watching the crowd-catchers at BW so I know nothing about this fellow. Hope his future career opportunities go well for him!

We will miss getting to see his show on the Boardwalk. We would try and watch his early show in front of the screen door general store and then catch the later show from our balcony above Seashore Sweets. We even saw him a few times in the Belleview lounge. Lots of good memories thanks to Brian.

1) Let's not rush to judgment.
2) Folks know that I compliment and criticize WDW equally.
. . . when they are wrong, I comment about it
. . . when they are right, I comment about it
3) However, we do not know the story.
4) Possible reasons for no renewal could be *
. . . WDW wanted to pay less
. . . WDW wanted a different experience
. . . WDW wanted to change types of entertainment
. . . WDW wanted to reduce the amount of live entertainment
. . . WDW and magician didn't get along
. . . magician wanted more money
. . . magician wanted to go elsewhere
. . . magician was just tired of the same venue after years
5) Until we know the story, we should be be sorry magician is leaving.

* I am not saying that ANY of these are valid, I am just giving examples.

Get it?

It's a Mat, and you JUMP to CONCLUSIONS!!!

Jump to Conclusions Mat.

On a sidenote, just as my father gets offended when I call a toilet a John, I find it offensive and inconsiderate and possibly a hate crime to call a small patch of floor covering a "mat".
