DD will be 2 1/2, and she's a chunk! We are participating in a stroller swap, but I am nervous because she is never in a stroller, we always babywear. It will be HOT when we go, so I am thinking she'll be more comfy in the stroller, but I am taking the wrap.

I am thinking that getting on and off buses will be easier if we already have the stroller folded, and I am wearing her. Less hassles and chances of her running off. Anyone with experience babywearing and using a stroller with a toddler?

First thing is you HAVE to have the stroller folded before you get on the bus. I took my DS last august when he was 21 months old and he sat in the stroller all day every day. He's never in a stroller either. IF she's heavy then you will want her in that stroller. I know my ds is 30lbs (right now, more by september when we go) and I NEVER carry him. WE either have him on one of those dredded LEASHES....His is a monkey, or we have him in the stroller. I only carried him in 2007 when he was 3 months old and even then he got really heavy after a few hours. what a ramble......Hope it helped a little....

We tried the baby wrap and ended up just humphing the stroller even though it was more bother..hubby and baby were absolutely soaking wet with sweat...the poor babys clothes were soaking and his hair was all stuck to his face...I was scared he would overheat so after day 2 we just stuck with the stroller. He even had little rub marks at the top of his legs where he was sweating and it looked sore.. when we went in to eat I had to change him as the AC made him cold as he was wet. This was just our thing we did....if you want to take your baby wrap then go for it...I would say just be careful of the heat which I know you will and have a great vacation.

As you can see we have 4 children, we wear 1 or 2, and take a double stroller, )generally the Phil and Ted Vibe)...

We fold the stroller up, DH totes that on, I wear a babe, and hold two hands...

Wraps are not the easiest if you think she will want in and out. DD at one walked, and sat in the stroller a LOT more at WDW than any other time in her life... there was just so much to see. Then popped her back in the Beco, when she wanted to ride, nurse, sleep, or just get away for a bit.

Do both a carrier and a stroller for sure.

I always wore babies and toddlers to ride the bus while dh carried the stroller. It has to be folded on all buses, and using a sling allowed me to use my arms :) I wore little babies and sleepy toddlers in lines too. If they were happy in the stroller, they rode while we walked around. I could never go to Disney with a baby or toddler without my sling!

I used a summer-weight Zolo sling when we went there in hot weather. SUCH a life-saver!

My experience with my now 4 yr old daughter and my currently 3 year old son (who I still wear), is that the stroller and wrap will complement each other nicely. The stroller will certainly be cooler for you both in most situations. But there will be a lot of situations where the stroller will not be available: in lines, on buses, etc. It will make your life so much easier to have your sling for these times.

We just spent a day at Disneyland, and I figured that a stroller rental would be sufficient, so I didn't "schlepp" my Maya wrap along. Within an hour and a half I was kicking myself!!

I would say..try to find a solarveil ring sling. they have sun protection are cooler and are great for quick trips and for hip carries with a toddler who wants to get up and down. BUT the stroller is also great...and it does need to be folded on the busses anyway!

I second a beco or ergo
we used a stroller but always had my carrier along she took her naps on my back better then in the stroller
