OK my daughter is due with my 4th grandchild in a few weeks. They are thinking of a name I'm not too thrilled with. She didn't like it at first either. Her husband wanted the name. I made a couple of comment on my dislike too. Now I'm afraid if they keep the name she'll always know I don't like it. So if you ever get in this situation keep your mouth shut.

Miles Joseph

That was going to be my suggestion as well. My son is Miles Coleman. I love "Miles" because it is old fashioned, but not stuffy and is fairly unusual. It wasn't a family name or anything, I just like Miles Davis.

I really like these two. Both have built in nicknames - TJ and MJ.

I like strong historically powerful names with good strong definitions that would work as well for a CEO or Dr. as a mechanic or cab driver, a name means a lot with how people treat a person and since we never know where life will bring a kid its good to cover all the bases IMHO. I like names with a nice formal form that would look good in print with an equally playful informal form, nicknames are important too. It took me months of playing around before I picked my children's names.

I won't list the ones I chose but here are a few I liked:

Jonathon would give you: Jon, Jonny, or JJ

Michael would give you: Mike, Mikey, or MJ

Stephen would give you: Steve

Liam would give you: Lee or LJ

William would give you: Will, Bill or Billy
