I know you have to be able in some way to show residency in Florida to be able to get a Florida resident AP,,,so once you produce that info (say you purchased it at DTD) and you are given the AP, when you first use it at the turnstile will they again ask for Florida ID?

We purchased my husband's resident AP at the T&T booths, then took the monorail to MK, we did not have to show id again at the park.

What REALLY urks me is that they dont ID you when parking. Universal does.,,,go figure

Nope.

I'd think you'd need to carry it anyway, in case there's an issue. Otherwise, it's a trek out to your car for it.

If there should be a problem with your AP (i.e. not reading right), you may have to show your FL ID. Also, it there is a need to replace it (lost, not being able to be read, etc), you will have to show your FL ID to replace it.

What about out of state ID but still was able to prove you live here by showing mail addressed to you at a Florida address? Would you always have to carry piece of mail with you? Kinda stupid

I have never been id'd at any of the parks for parking beyond just showing my AP card, and that I do at all the parks (Disney, Universal, Sea World and Busch Gardens). I am not certain they would accept a peice of mail, according to Disney's website they do require a driver's license, or for part year residents, an out of state license plus a bank statement or mortgage, that kind of thing, to prove Florida residency. Now, you CAN get an annual pass without being a Florida resident, it is just 1)more expensive and 2)can't do flex plan.

My friend got it (FL res AP) yesterday by showing his Virginia license and a piece of mail from Florida government addressed to his Florida mail box express (UPS store) and did the payment plan. I was with him.

do you have the power pass that doesn't include your free parking @ Universal? If you have one of the Annual's that include the free parking, they always ask for ID. They want to be sure that it is you using that AP to park and not allowing someone else to use it.. I don't think there has been a time that I wasn't asked to show ID when parking @ Universal..:confused3

to a mail box in a UPS store???? I am not saying I don't believe you, but the CM that allowed that, doesn't know the rules for FL resident passes.. you have to show an actual physical address, not a box address..

this is directly from the Disney World Official site..

The UPS store boxes are not like a PO Box, The physical address is the stores and the a # (for the box number) so its like an apartment building and your # is an apartment number. And I did say he got a piece of Florida state agency mail addressed to him here in Florida. And he showed his Virginia license. Worked like a charm.

but in actuality, it is a box. He doesn't live in that store, nor does he live in that store part time.. it is a place to accept his mail and only his mail. That is illegal. It may have worked like a charm due to a loop hole, but sooner or later, Disney will catch on to the loop holes in that.. that really is cheating the system when you have to do it that way... If you are a real part time resident, you have a real address of a home, not a store front that accepts your mail. :rolleyes2 Not saying you are wrong, just what the person you know did was .. :upsidedow If he/she actually lived here, they could still have sent it to their real address and the post office would have held their mail till they got here.. that is what real part time residents do. The post office holds the mail till they come back to town.. ::yes:: I am sure some can have a box, but after a while the box might fill up... and as I stated, that isn't the right way to show proof of residency....that is cheating the system...

No, I have the preferred pass at Universal, and the full annual pass at SeaWorld/Busch and at Disney as well. I have never been asked for any id with my AP at any of the parks.

Same here. :thumbsup2
Okay, now I am REALLY surprised, you BOTH always get asked for id at Universal? How very odd! It isn't that I would CARE, but I've never had it out and never been asked for it at the parking entrance, always been given my slip from them.

For free parking, yes. Not at the gate. I guess we have different kinds of luck. ;)

If you buy it elsewhere and activate it on site, you'll have to show your FL ID.

You also need your ID when you show your AP for discounts, but not having a FL ID doesn't really matter.

I'm the last one to call the morality police here since I far from walk a straight line 24/7-- but come on. I realize that saving a few bucks ($140-- ok, more than a few) is helpful, as are the monthly installments. I also realize that a bunch of people already take advantage of this situation. But at the end of the day when Disney closes the loophole and increases the rates for APs, it's not the out-of-state AP holders or casual vacationers that will be hit the hardest-- it will be those wishing to purchase the FL AP.

Don't think it will happen? Check out the price increases for AP holders at DLR in what I am pretty sure is a means to thin out the California crowd in the parks and increase revenue.
