When you purchase an AP, is it good from the day or the month ? For example; you purchase your AP ticket from Costco on May 7, first day you use it is May 27. Does the ticket expire May 6, May 27 or the first of May?
Thanks so much. You guys are the best.:worship:

Yep, first day you use it.

And to be thorough, if you first buy a ticket and upgrade it to an AP, the AP is backdated to the first day you used the ticket (so we used our tickets on the 18th, 19th, and 20th, upgraded on the 20th, and our expiration date was the 18th).

And as I parenthetically mentioned, it's good an entire year from that first day...for instance, 10/11/08 to 10/11/09, and you can use it on that last day.

this is not in the line of the op, but I've seen that people are buying APs from Costco. Do you have to buy a package, or can you buy just an AP from Costco now?

thanks for the help! (Sorry if I should've started a new thread when asking this :confused3 )

Some Costcos (only southern CA ones have been mentioned in the threads and sites I've seen, and I know that my Tacoma store didn't have them the other day) are selling vouchers for Deluxe APs right now. And it comes with a $50 Disney giftcard.

I imagine it's packaged like the Southern CA City Pass at Costco, or other "tickets" they sell, where you take the package up and it's exchanged for something else once you buy it.

Wow bumbershoot, you're fast! thanks for the info & quick reply. You're sooooo on the ball. :goodvibes

So if I'm buying my new AP on my birthday, I'll be able to use it for my next birthday?

Then what will Disney do for me if I don't need a free park admission on my birthday in 2009? ;)

It's not a question of when you buy it, but when you use it for the first time. If you USE it on your birthday, I believe it will expire the day before your birthday the following year. Bumbershoot?

As for your second question: There is a list of alternate gifts that AP holders can get on their birthdays since they do not need / get free admission.

Using my b'day...if I went on 10/12 and bought a new AP, I would indeed be able to use it on 10/12/09. (our APs from last September were dated 9/18/07, and we could have used them on 9/18/08, for example...you get an *entire* year)

Because it would be my b'day but I didn't need admission, I would have two choices, according to the rules of the promo. I could choose a Birthday Fun Card which would be in the amount of a one-day, one-park ticket, good on certain merchandise (no food or booze) at certain places on THAT day and that day only. Or I could snag a one-day one-park ticket good through the year until 10/12/10 (not sure if it would be good ON the 12th or if it would expire on the 11th?), but that ticket is not upgradeable, per the info pages.

I'd be going for the Birthday Fun Card. :goodvibes

Oh so if you have AP's and you opt for the "gift card" you have to use it on your birthday? OK, that seems fair...like buying a sweatshirt or something??

Bumbershoot's first post, and her follow-up says says it's good until the same day the following year. So it's I guess really an AP+ 1 day pass. I will be first using it on my birthday.

Cool about the fun card. I'll just have to remember to do all my shopping on the last day of my AP.

You get a fun card valued at the price of admission. You must use the entire thing on your birthday, but do not have to use it all on 1 item. If cannot be used on food and there are some other restrictions. Check the website for details, but overall... that's the gist. :goodvibes

So, is there a time limit between the time you buy and the time you enter the park for the first time? Could you wait several months in between? Or is there a certain date that it expires if you haven't used it yet? That Costco deal sounds interesting and I want to go check it out but we aren't ready to activate our APs yet.

i'm so excitted ..we just got our premium annual passes in the mail.. we are going on our first trip with them this coming weekend.

I just need to know ..where do we take the little cards Disney sent to us when we get to Disneyland?:confused3

Alas, I do not know. They don't have the APs for sale at my local Costco (yet!?) so I coudln't check it out. :(

I think I read you have to use (activate) the Costco AP by May 2009.
