Another airport wheelchair question

My parents need wheelchair assistance. Will they only take them to the gate, or will they take them to and from the lounge if we have access"?

As a general rule, they don’t stick around, so you’d either have to call again for porters to return to the lounge to bring you to the gate, or push them yourselves.

I wouldn't expect them to stay, and I'm sure the lounge staff wouldn't mind phoning. I was just wondering if it was a thing. Or if they would only take you to the gate.

They can bring u to the lounge. Or a restaurant . Or wherever you like. They also stop for bathroom breaks. The airport wheelchair is usually not allowed in lounges but often the staff let us bring it in :) Sometimes we are asked to leave it in the hallway outside. When we leave, one of our family members takes over pushing the wheelchair to the gate. I am sure they could get someone to come but we have no issues doing it ourselves.

Using the airport wheelchair is way less hassle than bringing your own but bringing your own means not having to rent at the other end. Pro tip - if u have assigned seating, try to board last instead of first. Then your wheelchair will be amongst the first devices unloaded. ;)

Thanks. I'm travelling with my parents, both of whom need assistance with distance. We are getting them ecvs for WDW, but just using the airport wheelchairs for getting to and from the planes. Obviously, I wouldn't be able to push them both at the same time. They can walk a few steps, but for any significant distance, they definitely need wheels. I'm glad to know we can get them to the lounge. I really want to pull out all the stops on this trip, since it will probably be the last time they are healthy enough to travel at all.
😥

Worth doing all you can to make it wonderful then. We used wheelchair assist for my FIL's last trip and he was super impressed with how smooth and easy it was.

Like others have said, when I needed wheelchair assistance and had access to the lounge, I had to call as I was ready to leave for someone to come. Warning-I had to wait about 20 minutes (and the lady at the desk called a couple times to remind them)!

Remember, if you need airport staff to get the wheelchairs from the lounge to the gate, that's a separate transaction. Even if you get the same person, tip again.
