We did not purchase the travel insurance but we still have time to add it on. What exactly does the insurance cover? We are flying Southwest Air. Would it cover the cost of the airfare if we had to cancel? Late baggage arrival?
Hi! We are traveling to Disney in September. I was told the insurance would cover the trip and air fare. If something would happen and you did not have insurance I was told by Disney, they would refund all but $200 and you would lose your air fare if they are non refundable flights. I went back and forth to keep or not to keep, we decided to keep it due to the fact my husband has two elderly grandparents to think about and I do not want to sound bad but you never know. If it had not covered the flights I probably would have not taken it. hope this helps. Chris
Its really a good idea to have, you never know what might happen. It definatley gives me piece of mind knowing that Disney has my back We always get it, it well worth it. plus if you do decide to get it, you have up to 45days before your arrival date to cancel the insurance. So either way you slice it you cant loose!
I was told by my booking TA that the insurance would cover my airfair in the event we had to cancle but would only cover a certain dollar amount. If we re booked for some reason we might be forced to pay the tranfer fees.. hope that helps
yes because a few days ago I was going to elect to take the travel insurance off. ( noting is stopping us from visiting this trip!! ) but was informed that you have to have no less than 45 days before your check in date to cancel the insurance. which isn't a big thing to me But she assured me in any event, that if I did need to cancel, that my airfare would be covered up to the value of a regular economy class seat, and I would have to pay the fees to transfer each ticket to the new dates. ( I think this is the airline rules. we are using Delta) but if we didnt tranfer we would get the value of the ticket back. HTH
oh, the OP's talk about southwest threw me. i think(?) disney will only cover the flight if it's booked through them.
this is what mousesavers.com says on disney's insurance
Disney sells trip insurance, but it's expensive and it has major exclusions. For instance, it does not cover pre-existing medical conditions, most airline delays, terrorism or unemployment -- but there are many policies available from other companies that will cover these things. You can almost always get better insurance than Disney provides, and at better rates, by buying it elsewhere.
I cant believe they dont cover for terrorism !! Thats weird and completely surprising!!! I would think that would definatly be "covered" we pay enough for the insurance!!!! thats kinda upsetting!!
I was told it did cover my airfare even though I bought my own air I almost didn't buy it because Southwest is pretty good about just giving a credit, but since I'm the only adult and my entire party is covered on my insurance, I figured it was a good deal (I actually don't have health insurance now, so if I get heat stroke--yippie, I'm covered for once! )
