We arrive on the 30th of November (Yippee!) and are still unsure if our daughter and son in law will be able to go with us, but they are trying to work it out. I am anxious about waiting until checkin to add them on, but don't want the extra $50 per night added to my credit card if it is not necessary. Do you guys think I will be OK to wait until we get there or should I do it now? By the way, our trip is split with 3 nights at the AKL and 6 nights at the BWI which would be another $450 total. I know I could ask to have it removed from my bill if they can't go, but it just seems like a hassle I would rather not deal with.

So long as you won't be going over the room max, just wait until you get there...
I tried to add DBrother and DSIL to my AKL room for 2 out of our 5 nights and next thing I knew, the CM was quoting me the price of an additional room:earseek: She could not "get" what it was I was trying to do...
When you check in - if the others are there - just say you have 2 guests who are joining you. Don't worry about it!:teeth:

I have the same situation for my trip next month. My son and I are going to stay 4 nights at POR, meet my mom and my sister and stay for 1 week in an offsite timeshare, and then stay at Pop for 2 nights. I'm hoping that my mom and sister will come a couple days early and stay with us. If that happens I'll add them to the ressie when they show up--I can then get their room keys. They wouldn't be there the whole time, anyway. I asked about this when reserving and the CM agreed that this is what I should do.

T&B

Since you dont really know if they are going to be there or not I would wait til check it.

We have two additional adults coming down at the end of our trip WDW informed me to add them when we check in if that helps

This may be wrong in some peoples eyes but when my family goes to the world (we include dad, mom, 23 yr old brother, myself 21, and little sis 13) only my mom and dad show up at the check in desk. all the kids just do something else, like walk around till they are done checking in. Disney never knows we are in the room. Since there are five of us and there should only be 4 in the room, my mom just politely ask for another room key just in case we lose one. Never had any problems. I don't think its fair for disney to charge a family more because kids are older.
Like i said some people might think this is wrong, but it's not like disney isn't going to get money from us some other place.

In fact in January, my boyfriend, his mom, my self, and his little sister are going, only i will be checking in so they will never know

yeah, it's wrong... there are plenty of threads on "why" it's not the right thing to do, ranging from fire codes to just plain cheating... and you're not "kids" if you're 21 and 23, you're ADULTS! and regardless of whether or not you'll be paying for other things in "the world" you're still not paying for what you're getting... glad i don't have to sleep w/your conscience...

As long as there are not more than 5 of you, I would not pay the extra or let them know about the extra person. FIre codes have nothing to do with it. Disney allows 5 max at most of their Deluxe resorts and there is no reason to pay for the 5th person. How in the world does paying for a fifth person protect you if there was fire! I agree with the previous poster, they don't need to know how many you are putting in the room as long as you don't surpass 5.

::yes::
ITA!!!

My mom is 81yo and she has always referred to me as "her baby", which I am, even though I'm turning 44next month during my trip to WDW. Maybe WDW shouldn't charge me as an adult! :teeth:

I'll have to say that even though I will "be legal" about it and add my mom and sister to the ressie if they do join me, I also won't complain if the resort does not charge me the extra adult charge.

T&B

I personally don't see a problem with this. Very very few hotels I've been at have charged for 4 people in a room - Las Vegas, Colorado - I've traveled a bit. If there are 2 double beds and 4 can stay, why does Disney charge for 2 "extra" people? They aren't EXTRA - the room can accomodate 4. Plus, they give you enough towels & stuff for 4 too. It's simply to get extra money. I disagree with the policy. However, this December when I go with mom & dad, we paid for me, the 3rd person. I dunno - I guess I see both sides of it, but I'm leaning towards a little "civil disobedience".. Sorry, just my humble opinion.

I agree with plutofreak, by the way, I am ducking for cover, usually when we go it is dh, dd (over 17) and myself, dd is a poor college student still mooching off her parents and since she looks 14, we go with it. She orders the adult meal, we buy the adult ticket, yadda, yadda yadda. But the room we fudge a little bit. This year it will be me, dd and one of her friends. Her friend is paying her own expenses, the room charge would put her over the top. Disney is still getting the ticket and meal money, Oh well!

Many hotels allow children to stay in the room free of charge. The age that is consired a child varies depending on the hotel chain--seems that it is usually under 18, but I've seen 12yo and other ages, too.

Having said that, I don't begrudge someone for having a third adult in the room, especially when only 3 people are in a room that could otherwise have 2 adults, 2 children, and another under 3yo. It's not as if room occupancy limits are being abused.

I figure if it made no difference there would not even be room occupancy guidelines. I figure they are there for a reason. Therefore like others I abide by them. If it was only about money Disney could raise the room rates to cover that extra charge.

I am curious though if you know the occupancy is 4, and you choose to go around it, why do you care what anyone else thinks.

What if there was a fire or any other disaster? If the headcount for your room is 2 and there are really 4 or more in there, the extra people would not be accounted for and the authorities would not know to look for them. Just a thought!

I'm confused...people aren't saying that they are exceeding room guidelines, only that they are not reporting people as adults who are over 17. They aren't sneaking people in the room, but are maybe saying they are 17yo when they are really 19yo. As long as these people are listed in the room count then they would be recorded for fire reasons.

Sneaking extra people is another thread... ;)

Anyway, I honestly don't think that if a fire broke out that the firefighters are going to take the time to get a list of people in all the different rooms and keep track of which room people are coming from. People will be hurrying from the rooms, not staying in the rooms for head count reasons. Firefighters will still check rooms and will listen to the occupants reports about someone still in a room or unaccounted for.

Again, though, this thread isn't even about that...(unless in my pre-coffee reading I missed something. ;)
