Well this was why I got the insurance..

Leave next Saturday and I'm maxed out on prednisone and nebulizer inhalers,

Going to ER tonight and they will give IV meds and check things out. Been here before and just need time to clear the lungs.

HOPE IS THAT THINGS settle down enough to go.???

If we do I will rent an electric wheelchair to keep my walking to a minimum.

This is going to be a close call
Hate to disappoint my granddaughter and have to cancel

Just saw you cannot reserve an ECV. How many do they have and I imagine we would have no problem getting one at rope drop???

You can reserve with an outside ECV rental company. Much cheaper than WDW and they deliver to your hotel. Check out the disABILITIES forum. If you get on predispose now, there's a good chance you will be feeling much better by next weekend.

I've been on 100 mg prednison a day for a week already. 60mg am - 40mg pm, I know thats a lot.. Doc. knows the dosage. I go through this 1 or 2 times a year for the last 3-4 years.

got rid of the cat last spring hoping that would help . only sleeping a couple hours a night so wired up....

I think I'm right at the verge of breaking out of it and think / hope Ill be better by then...

If I was so bad I thought I'd need the ECV from the resort I wont even go. I'm just thinking of using at the park to cut down on the walking..

would an outside source deliver to the park?

$50 a day at the park isnt a problem under the circumstances. probably would leave it parked at times till we travel to another area of the park...

Having the ecv delivered to your resort does not mean you have to be tied to it all the time. It is simply a tool to use as you see fit. You can still park it and walk whenever you feel you have the energy. Don't forget that there can be quite a long walk just to get to the park gates, and some of the resorts are very spread out.

I don't believe the outside vendors will deliver to a park, unless they are replacing a vehicle that is defective.

Hmm, I've used Walker Mobility and thought they would deliver to a park if your were going to keep it a couple days. But, I guess you'd have to call to be certain on that. You should be good getting one in the park at rope drop. If you are going to hop to another park though, you first return the one you get in the morning, then hop and have to get another one in the new park. No additional cost as long as you keep the original receipt, and you'll get your $20 deposit back at the end of the day. But, if they are out by the time you hop you may not get one for while. They can put you on a wait list till some are returned, but no guarantee you'll get one. But, I will say the one I got from Walker was a 3 wheeler instead of the 4 wheeler Disney ones, which was much easier to maneuver than the Disney ones, with a nice tight turning radius which make getting around in some areas much easier. And, there can be quite a bit of walking at the resort, as well as getting into and out of a park. Good luck, hope you feel better in time for your trip!

Do you know anyone that uses essential oils? My wife uses one called "breathe" by Doterra. She hasn't used an inhaler in 2 years!

" Do you know anyone that uses essential oils.."

Interesting, doesnt look like it would hurt.. May try it.. hate the drugs...

Feeling better, hopefully continue to improve tomorrow.

I dont want the hassle of loading the scooter on the busses. im not that bad, just think it might be wise to cut down the walking in the park, at least for the first couyple days

Also try acupuncture and GOOD chiropractic (not the people that advertise for personal injury cases..but the ones that REALLY believe that it's for health), because they can also help.

I had a long bout of asthma problems last year, which the steroids didn't touch. Turned out I had too much mucus, and when thdu switched me to tablets that helped liquefy the mucus, I improved really quickly.

Hope they get to the bottom of the problem quickly.

My wife gets real shaky when she uses an inhaler. And she used to use it all the time. I felt so bad and wised there was something I could do. When we discovered Breathe we thought "this will never work." But then she tried it. I don't remember how long she still carried her inhaler, but one day we realized she hadn't used it in a while. I don't know how fast you might be able to find it, but I would keep your inhaler and meds just in case. If you happen to get some, just put a few drops (3-5) in your hands, rub them together and then cup your hands and breathe in like you would with an inhaler. You can also put some on your back or chest which will help. We do that for our daughter because she sometimes has trouble breathing if she starts crying and she has a panic attack...Breathe put an end to that as well!!

I just looked that up online and will have to try that. Thanks!

My last vacation, I had an asthma flair-up as well. This time, I'm taking my regular inhaler when I'm supposed to (oops), using Flonase and will stock up on Children's Allegra as well (hate taking pills). Going to do what I can to keep my allergy-induced asthma in check so it doesn't happen again. I will have VIP cleaning to help too.

Please post on how it works for you. I have found some articles that say to be very careful using it if you have asthma, as you won't know if it will set yours off or not.

Agreed, I'm not triggered by environment, its always after catching a cold, Headach, slight fever, sore throat, then it settles in the lungs for 1 - 2 weeks. clears up then I'm good till the next event.
I will try 1 drop and not a big inhale and see how it goes....

Got Breathe tonight after work.
Ehhh, I dont know, , I have problems with perfumes and such so this is just rather smelly to me.
Probably a difference between using it an a normal basis vs now where my lungs are pretty inflamed..
It didnt kill me anyway,,, notice no reaction. gonna bring it with us to WDW.

Felt much better today, made it through a full day of work.... so Trip Is On !!!!!

Wont be 100% but I'll take it easy and just follow my 4 yr old GD around taking pictures of her...

So sorry. I don't know much about asthma but my sister has had bouts since she was a child. Now she lives in a different state but she tells me she does wind up in the hospital when it gets bad. She also has triggers like dust, pets, etc. Other than what your doctor prescribes, try to stay warm especially in the air-conditioned locations throughout Disney. I recommend carrying a light sweater with you. When going back to the hotels at night it can be frigid. Also, drinking plenty of water helps the body get rid of the mucus. Take care.
