Another 4/3 package question

Hi all,

Just purchased the 4/3 package two days ago, and just a little while ago, was directed toward the military discount I posted below by a friendly fellow "dis"er. DH and I have crunched numbers, and the 4/3 package, staying in a cabin at FW, family of five, still seems the best deal. So here's my question:

If I have my info right (:surfweb: ), tickets purchased do not start to expire until first date of use--they expire 14 days following first use. If this is true, could I "save" the tickets I get through the 4/3 package, go to Shades of Green to buy the military tickets and get DH's complimentary ticket, and use the military tickets for the current vacation? Then, we could come back next year and use the 7 day tickets I purchased with the 4/3 package.

Our other option is to use the 4/3 tickets this trip, purchase the military tickets, and come back to Disney before December 23--not a bad option, I admit, but two trips to Disney within just a few months seems a little decadent, even to me.

Thanks in advance. New to these boards, but already HOOKED!!!

Welcome - I'm from Charleston too (South Charleston actually)! And yes, these boards are addictive, but extremely helpful. Been to Disney probably 16 times or so, and I still pick up pointers!

As far as the tickets, you can add no expiration option to tickets, not sure if military tickets are different.

What is DH's complimentary ticket? For his birthday?

If you already have multi-day tickets, he is better off choosing a different birthday gift than a complimentary ticket. He just needs to show the ticket (not a one-day) that he used to enter the park plus proof of birthday.

Aside from that, it doesn't matter whether you use military tickets this time and your 4/3 tickets next time, or vice versa. But the one in the military (DH?) must be with the family on the vacation when you all use the military tickets.

Almost all totally unused tickets do not expire. Birthday tickets are a notable exception. One kind expires after your birthday if not used but if upgraded on your birthday it becomes a normal ticket. The other kind is good for one of the 364 days after your birthday and may not be upgraded.

I'm told that upgrading of military tickets, such as adding non-expiration after partial usage, has to be done at Shades of Green, otherwise a surcharge wiping out the military discount applies.

Minniemom97--hi, neighbor!!! We're working on our fifth trip to Disney World, and still counting.... Can't get enough!!!!!

SeashoreCM--thanks for your info--the ticket is the new military offer--five day park hopper ticket. The rest of our party would buy tickets for $99/each.
We took advantage of this great deal the last time they offered it in 2003, it is so appreciated by those of us in the military and hard to pass up...

My understanding is the tickets expire 14 days after the first use. So just make sure not to use your KttW card to enter a park.
I am sure someone will come by with a more definite answer though. :wizard:

I have a friend that just so happens her military brother is visiting, arriving tonight. So his free ticket was perfect timing for them.
