Hello everyone! I always come here with my Disney questions because I always get the best advice.

So, here goes.....

Our dd is doing the College Program for the second time. We did not get AP's the last time she did it but are considering it this time so that we don't have black out dates and we can still go in even when she is working. Plus, the 6 tickets just was not enough and now, they've changed the distribution of them.

Would you all think it would benefit us to get the AP's and if so, which one? Wondering what benefits come with it besides the parking. Are there any other discounts?

Also, our DS is in college still at Ringling College of Art and Design and we did not know if we should get him one or not. He stays so busy and may be doing an internship this summer. Thinking about maybe just a 7 or up to a 10 day pass for him and then he could use the free tickets she gets at other times and we can get an AP added on to that if we decide to .....we can can't we?

Anyway, your help will be greatly appreciated.

Also, we are thinking about going ahead and trying to book a room with someone's points in DVC since we don't know when her room discount will become active. She checks in on Feb. 1st and we are staying until the 6th or so but will spend 2 days in Sarasota with our son.

She found out she is working in DAK and is so excited about that! She will be in attractions this time.

Only you can decide whether you would get enough use out of an annual pass.

But I am confused about the comments about your son. You would have a 7-10 day trip that would include him?

Sue-- we were just trying to justify if we should buy him an AP as well or just like a 7 day - 10 day ticket pass. We just don't know if he will end up going as much as we will.

Thank you jaysom4285! That is a great link!!

Just making sure you know that there are no longer any no-expiration tickets. So if you got him a 7-10 day ticket, once used, it would expire 14 days later.

Oh....yes, did not realize that was no longer an option. That does change things a bit. hmmm. okay, thanks! Also, we plan on going in the parks when we take her down which will be the first week of Feb., then will go in May for at least a few days, then in october for sure and probably late july-early august.

Your DD won't be able to get you into the parks in February. She needs to work 100 hours before she receives 3 one-day parkhoppers.

She'll only receive a total of 9 one-day parkhoppers... which is only 3 days of entry for your family.

You'll need to determine the number of days you think you'll be visiting the parks and then decide who needs an AP and who will use the hoppers (probably your son).

Yes, that's what I was talking about with the change in their ticket distribution. It's a little irritating but I'm sure it was done because so many were taking advantage of the way it was done prior. She plans on extending but I don't think they get any extra tickets then even if she does. If things go well though, she is going to apply for the professional internship and then maybe try and stay with the company. I know my husband and I really need to get the AP's (and I don't think she can get us much of a discount, if any , on those....do you know the answer to that?) but I guess it was more if we need them for our son. And I wanted to find out what the perks were. Since the 10 day tickets expire, I know what our answer is though. Plus, I know we will enjoy going at a more leisurely pace when there. I really think it stinks that Florida college kids (our son) don't get any kind of discount. Thanks for all the help/advice.

Company D does sell cast-discounted APs. The non-FL-resident Platinum pass is about $80 less than gate price. I'd copy and paste the actual prices but I'm on my phone.

Thank you! She could not remember from her last program. We will look into that!

We realized she will probably not be through Traditions until after a few days we are there. Can another CP get us AP's (she has a friend that can get the discount now as a CP)?

The CM friend can purchase the APs by using his/her own Credit Card.

What if you purchased a multi-day ticket and then upgraded to a CM discounted AP? It doesn't matter if you pay full price for the ticket as you'll be upgrading it anyway. Your DD can only upgrade at a Company D store by using her CC.

We were wondering if we would be able to do that. So if we do that, we will still get the discount? We thought it might not apply. She would just have to use her card on both transactions then, correct?

Ask her CP friend to ask at a company D but the policy is any ticket can be upgraded. Keep the receipt and have her purchase all tickets using her CC. You technically are only receiving a discount off of the AP which would be purchased by your DD after she has her CP ID.

Yes, I'll see if she can find out. I really would hate to buy the regular tickets and then not be able to get the AP's at a discount. Thanks for your advice!

So for us being Fl residents we break even on AP after 5 days. You can(and do) get pretty darn nice discounts for staying on property at the resorts (up to 33%). Additionally we don't have to settle up on the room bill until we show up that day whereas others have to do it earlier. You also do get discounts on merchandise at specific stores. Your mileage may vary.

Living in a state for college doesn't equal residency. Otherwise the moment I moved to WA I could have applied to a WA state school and gotten WA resident rates. Or people who moved to my former state (CA) could apply to UC schools with the resident rate. Just doesn't work that way. He still has a home state that isn't FL.

Not to come off trying to sound smart but I never said he should have a Florida "resident" discount.....I only said a discount....ummmm. like a student discount???! Yes, I know his permanent residence is our state (at least for right now). Believe me, with his college tuition I sure do WISH he could say he was a Florida resident. :)

I was glad I had my AP while my daughter was on the DCP. It worked nice because I didn't worry about block out days, and she could save her passes for her friends. She also had an AP, so could go to the parks before Traditions and on days that were blocked for CMs, like the 24 hour day and 4th of July.
