Annual Passports Holder Discounts on Hotels

What is the discount for an annual passport holder at the Disney Resort Hotels? How many times a year does one need to go to Disneyland to make the annual premium passport worth it? Because of my work schedule, I'd only be able to go a few weekends per year, flying from northern California.

For the AP Hotel discounts, Well, there is no one exact answer. It depends on the time of the year and weekend vs weekday.

In general the AP hotel discount can be upto 30% (about the same as the senior discount).

For my Family (Northern CA) I figure two trips per year and the AP pays for itself. You also get 10% of your in park food (with a few restrictions).

I've only got the DeLuxe one - and I am from Germany. That one pays for itself within a year and one trip.

We're staying at the Grand Californian for three nights, and that alone saves us more than the AP cost me. Add the food discount to that and that makes a very happy tourist.

Well, a Premium AP = $429 but a Deluxe is only $289.
3 day park hopper advanced purchase = $184 (2 day PH is only $30 less).
Figure you might spend $40/day (maybe a bit conservative but about what we spend) on food per person so you'd only save about $4/day there with the Deluxe or $6/day with the premium.
For hotel I just checked for the DLH for a weekend in Oct where the AP rate is available and the rate is $159/night. I then checked regular rates and they have a fall sale and the rate would be $170. So, you're only saving $11/night there. Other times of year the savings could be more like $90/night.

So for the Deluxe AP if you go 2 times, it more than pays for itself and could even pay for iteself in 1 trip but you can't count on it. For the premium, it'd probably still be breaking even in 2 trips (if they were 3 day trips or 3 trips if they were 2 days). If you don't need parking and don't NEED to go during peak time, I'd consider deluxe! That is what we get. We live in Northern CA and usually to get down for 4, 3 day trips/year although this year we are doing a 9 night trip staying in Anaheim but hitting a variety of southern CA attractions!

It seems like AP discounts are offered frequently throughout the year and if you are flexible you can usually plan a time to go when they are available although Sat nights can sometimes be tough to get!

OP, I value the AP for the admissions it gives me; the discounts are just gravy.

Our first AP was a value b/c we were taking a several day trip which needed tickets, and we knew we'd be there at least one more day while visiting my brother later in the year. The hopper plus the one day was MORE than the AP.

NOw for you, you're going to have to add up however many 2 day tickets you'll need, and see if they reach the AP price. I bet they will.

The only complicating factor is WHAT weekends, because the Deluxe AP (the only "lower" AP you qualify for, the lowest ones being only for So Cal residents) has some weekends, and some parts of other weekends, blocked out. So if your timing of visits means you need to get a Premium (no blockouts) AP, it's going to be harder to reach.


As for hotels, you'll always get 10% off rack rate. Other times, like, at long last, now through the holidays, they have some great rates (for instance, 149 per night at PPH instead of the 221 that was listed for AGES for all of October).

OP make sure you check the blackout dates, the Deluxe has most Saturdays blacked out from March-September next year......not very good IMO. We had Deluxe APs last year and worked around black outs, this year we got Premiums and love the freedom of no blackouts! But they are pricey so figure out when you're going and see what your blackout options are. You can buy a blackout pass, they are currently $40 iirc.
