Once you have your AP you can phone the booking line and they will give you a price for room only at the hotels or you can stay at one of the offsite hotels without tickets (Holiday Inn, Explorers, Dream castle and Kyriad are very close)

Hi, this is my first post but I'd be grateful for any help you can give. I want to buy 4 passport for a trip to DLP in October, with the family (one passport would be free as child only 4). But I want to book the accommodation in advance, without having to pay for the inclusive tickets. Is there any way I can do this? Or do I have to buy the passports first? I don't really want to just turn up at the gate without having already booked accommodation (I really want to stay at the Disneyland hotel, at Halloween). Any help you can give regarding just buying a room-only on-site hotel would be much appreciated.

Hi ooharr and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

Without the Annual Passports in your possession you will not be able to progress a room only booking at Disney :)

Have you thought about the off-site hotels. The Holiday Inn, Explorer etc are listed in the Hotel sticky. These can often be booked at very good on-line rates. You would then be able to purchase your APs and benefit from booking a Disney room at a subsequent trip :)

we are doing the same thing in june booked yesterday for hotel cheyenne room only told them i had already pre purchased my tickets.

Thanks. Who did you contact to make the room-only booking? I phoned Disney and asked for a room only booking but the price they quoted was the same as that including the tickets.

As Cyrano said it is almost impossible to book room only without having an AP already. They usually ask for your AP number over the phone when booking so Lee1 you have been very lucky to be able to do this. Have you actually checked the price against what it is with tickets as you may find you've been misunderstood on the phone and sold a package.

Most people end up booking a offsite hotel when buying an AP and then booking onsite for future trips- which is what we did last summer

I have tried doing this before. Out of 4 times I rang in the space of 3 days all 4 could quote me a room only price, which was around 40% cheaper!!! Its just a case of getting the right agent to talk to! Keep trying it DOES work!

Just a thought and someone will correct me if I'm wrong ;)
but have you thought about buying shares and joining the shareholders club, you'd be able to book room only through them discounted by 10% and you'd get a discount on your AP's.

Otherwise I suppose perseverance is the key until you can find someone who will/can quote you room only. Have you tried Expedia, they used to have the resort hotels on there at room only rates.

Welcome to DIS BTW :goodvibes

Thanks for all the replies and advice. The shareholding seems a good idea, but it rather depends on cost (and min purchase of shares?). I'll also get some off-site quotes, although on-site was my preference.

thanks again for the welcome from you all :)
