I'm contemplating getting Annual Passes for my daughter & I to be able to visit for long weekends whenever we have free time... (We live about an 11 hour drive away)

My question is, what kind of room rate discounts are usually offered for AP's? We have a MYW package reserved right now for Dec 7-14 in an ASMu Family Suite (we're taking my Bro on that trip)...

Do the room discounts ever apply to the ASMu FS? How about the Mods & up? What kinds of savings do they usually offer?

Also, on a little side note... If I get the Dining Discount card with the AP's, it says you get a 20% discount at the restaurants but they automatically add an 18% gratuity, no matter what the party size. So that means you only save 2%? I'm confused!:confused3

AP discounts vary greatly, and really can't be accurately predicted in advance.

If the bookings at a resort aren't where Disney wants them to be, they make an AP discount available for a certain number of rooms. Once those rooms are booked, the discount is gone. If a resort is selling well, then there may be no discounts at all at that resort. So there's really no way to tell what discounts would be available.

For the dining discount, I think they assume that you'll be tipping anyway, so the mandatory tip doesn't really take away from the discount. I usually tip 20%, so I'd come out ahead. ;)

I got an AP in December. We had ressies in December at ASMu and January at POR so far. I don't remember what the Dec rate was, but the January rate was $119 instead of $165 for a waterview room.

I also got the DDE and used the discounts that come with the AP. We saved a lot on dining just on the January trip!!! We also used the AP discount at the World of Disney store at DTD. I was going to tip anyway so the 20% savings on dining was 20% in my pocket. If you weren't going to tip anyway, then it would only be a 2% savings because 18% of your 20% would be going to the tip.

For us, the AP was worth it. I wish I would have gotten it sooner!!

Whoops! I didn't mean to make it sound like I wouldn't be tipping... I always tip! I didn't stop to consider it would basically pay for the tip...

Thanks for your replies! (& Sorry for not getting the post in the right place, I honestly wasn't sure where to put it)

:cool1: :santa: We just went in December for a last-minute side trip because I got AP rate from Sun-Thurs. at POP for $49 per night - couldn't pass it up!! It was for Dec. 9-13.

Like a pp said AP rates can't really be predicted and vary a lot. Case in point the latest AP rates that just came out today.

At POFQ the AP rate was about a 11% discount whereas the AP rate at AKL was about a 40% discount.

We used to use our AP for room discounts and still use the AP for 10% discounts at various restaurants (during lunch) and various stores in DTD.
