Would you only get an email to sign up for this or would you be able to go to the pass holder extra section and a link be provided there as well?

Look at those price increases out of nowhere last night for the AP's. Those increases are nuts.

This was Disney plan all along and I said that in this thread yesterday. They are trying to get as much money as possible out of SWGE.

oh and you think paid events for SWGE are not coming? oh yeah those are 100% coming now. Oh and Paid fast passes, yeah those are coming too. (eventually)

Do I blame Disney for doing this, NO not at all. They are a business, they have a product no one else has and trying to make as much money as possible off it.

I just think we all have to realize, especially now with SWGE anything and EVERYTHING is possible moving forward.

Ya, I want to say it's a crappy move from Disney, but it's a brilliant business move. They know people are going to want to buy AP's to try to get a preview, so demand just skyrocketed.

Yes agreed.

I would bet anything they are going to let this price increase soak for 7 to 10 days letting everyone buy up the passes and then that "LINK" for the reservations for SWGE will open by end of NEXT week.

The tail end of our trip coincides with the opening of SWGE, but with no FP and no EMH that day, not holding high hope's. DH has an activated AP but mine an DD's are just certificates. We very rarely get passholder emails, so I'm counting on reading about it early enough here to at least get DH in...since he is the big fan. Is the MDE email addy or what's they would use for the AP email, or do you need to contact WDW AP to check?

Do you think it will matter if your annual pass is activated or just a certificate when you use the registration link?

Well played Disney, Well played. Get people wanting to get SWGE previews and then jack the price by 25% .. Wow. I can usually justify Disneys business decisions, but this is shocking and pretty blatant.

Wow ..I am just surprised they didnt raise the prices first THEN announce there would be SWGE previews. Maybe someone let the cat out of the bag too early.

No chances I will be renewing now. I have been enjoying it (and still have several months left) but ... $225 a person?
So what is the math now on a Platinum Pass? When I got mine last year (AFTER they had already increased a lot to $895) .. I calculated that the AP price was the same as if you bought two sets of 4-5 day hoppers. How many days do you need to go now to justify the cost? Do you know have to go on 3 trips (or two really long trips) to justify tthis cost?

It makes sense .. with the new DAILY pricing and increasing crowds, they need to get a handle on guests who can just come whenever they want -- thus increase the price to reduce the amount of people who had annual passes.

We decided we won’t be getting platinum APs now. We’re just gonna go with the gold ones and maybe add on water parks. At least now we don’t have to be in a huge rush to get our APs

They need to get everyone hyped up first and then drop the hammer. That's why they didnt announce price increase first.

So depending on dates, roomie might be down for us to Thelma & Louise it on down there. Question: if both of us have APs, theoretically, could I reserve a spot with her as my guest and then she reserve another spot with me as her guest? Anybody know if that situation was doable with other previews?
No. For Pandora, you selected your eligible guests at registration. So you’d be registering both of you at the same time and it was 1 slot per person.

Optics would’ve been better if they had done it the other way around.

First jack up prices; we roll our eyes, “Yeah SWGE. Of course they did.”

Then offer the preview to Platinum; we celebrate, “Now Platimum is totally worth the upgrade.”

Now it just looks like a trap set/money grab.

Ya .. but there was a window yesterday where people could GASP .. buy it at the low price :).

I would think they could have announced an AP price increase (coming in a week) and they would have been flooded with sales of people renewing and panic buying.
So it seems that the goal is NOT money, but more about reducing the number of AP holders from now on.

Just another nail in the coffin of Disney taking away the bulk discounts (that lots were taking advantageof).

It seems like every time I find an affordable way to go to WDW, Disney takes it away.
First it was the 10-day no-expiration tickets (I still have days left)
Then it was just pre-buying tickets since they didnt have expirations (These I had sitting around and traded in for my AP this year)
Then it was getting an AP to make going twice in an 11 month period more affordable.
Now? I will just have to suck it up and by my tickets on-demand at whatever the current price is.
