Annual Passholder park entrance question

I think I know the answer but I wanted to get some expert opinions.

Going to Disney in May, it will be myself, DH and DD (we have APs) and my cousin who will have a park hopper. Since she is a minor (13), do you think they will let her come through the separate AP entrance line with us, or will she/we have to go through the regular entrance?

I would think that when she scans her MB and the head doesn't light green (because she has no AP linked to her ticket) she would not be allowed in the park.

If their checking for AP credentials like they sometimes do, then no. If their not, then she can go through

They might allow it or they might not. I don't think you will know until that particular day.

FWIW, as an AP holder, I would have no problem with it. Sometimes the lines for the AP entrance are actually longer than the standard lines. Sometimes people don't care & just walk through the AP entrance anyway, which I have to admit is slightly annoying. :lmao: A kid, though, no, I wouldn't care.

We were just there last month. DD and myself have AP's but the mom and her DD that we were traveling with do not. Several times they went through the AP entrance with us without any problem what so ever. We all scanned, 4 green Mickey heads lit up and we went on our merry way. I don't think the scanners are advance enough to only scan AP folks.

Last time we went to Epcot a cm asked every approaching person if they had an annual pass.

We have AP's (myself and my two daughters) and when we traveled with 2 of my nieces who had park hoppers we just used the regular lines as we all didn't qualify for the AP entrance.

The handhelds are. At Epcot last week they checked us with a handheld before actually getting to the turnstile. Anyone without an AP got sent to a regular line. This was right at rope drop and the AP line was 1/4 the size of the others.

Anyone in WDW recently to know if the Annual Passholder Entrances are still there ? And can guests traveling with you but without an AP join you in the line.

My experience with the annual passholder entrances is most times they just let anyone walk in. Sometimes they ask if you are a passholder and maybe once did they actually scan and verify. The most annoying part of all was at opening at DHS when they just let anyone in that line. Literally telling people its find for them to get in the line without annual passes.

Sounds to me like the AP line is not exclusive at this point. The idea is to get everyone into the park as efficiently as possible. If the AP line is short, I imagine CMs are told to let others through. If, however, the AP line is long b/c its use is abused by non-AP holders, then Disney should enforce the policy, IMO.
So, to answer the OP's question (and the same question asked by cupcakemkc), you have a 50/50 chance. She will either be able to walk through with you or she will not.

We took my 16-year-old niece last month. The 5 of us have AP and she did not. She entered with us each time through the pass holder entrance.

yes, they are still there (as of last weekend) and much more effective now then when we went back in May.

They do not check those using the line but unlike two months ago most parks that had the AP line now had stanchions extending out from the mickey readers so it was obvious the line you were getting into was a "different line"

Can I assume that the security/bag check line is different than the AP entrance line? So everyone stands in the same line for security and then AP holders go to a separate line after security to enter the park?

Yup.
Sometimes (like some transportation entry points at MK,) security can be at a location nowhere near the entrance gates.

We were there last month. Of all the days we used the AP only twice was it shorter. At MK it was about the same and all the way to the left so it wasn't worth the walk to get to from the Contemporary.
