Question 1-Planning on purchasing FL silver annual passes today. I know that I will get certificates to trade in when we go in January. When will we get our magic bands because my understanding is AP get free ones?

Question 2-We are going for a week during spring break and staying onsite and I see I can order magic bands there but won't get them until right before the trip so how does that work? Ill have two sets of bands?

I currently have a set from last year a 3 day trip in March (3 day ticket) but my older daughter had a 4 day ticket and used the 1st day ticket in January and her friends mom put her on her account. We had to then link it to ours. The friend has since moved and I removed that account from our account because I didn't want to accidentally connect our her new pass to that account. When I removed it so did the old magic band- so i am assuming that one can not be used again because its main account was her friend's mom main account.

Question 3-Last year was our first experience with magic bands so I am guessing that when I get new bands, I should remove the old bands from my account?

I need some experts to train me on what to do. Thanks

1a. Maybe. You actually don't NEED any kind of "certificate to trade in."
If you order "will call" you just need to stop by any Guest Relations or ticket booth and show your legal photo ID to get your AP plastic card.
1b. In most cases (95% ?) you won't get a MagicBand until a short time AFTER your first
visit to WDW using your new AP.

2a. Yup.
2b. Yup.
2c. Well, yes, AFTER you return from that trip and you customize your AP MBs
in your MDE and Disney ships the AP MBs at that time.

3. NO!
You can have as many active MBs as you like.
And, EACH of them can be used at any time for anything at WDW, interchangeably.

So, the MBs that you got last year CAN be used for your upcoming trip, and your new APs will
work just fine via those "old" MBs, too.

A MB can function for park entry, room "keys," charging to the room, and FP+ virtually "forever."
But, what can happen after maybe 2-4 years AFTER a MB has been issued is that the MB's
internal battery can die. BUT, that function is ONLY for a couple of things at the parks.
For the most part, a MB can last "forever."

How about the my oldest DD? I should leave that off my account right? Since its primary account was her friend's mother account. I don't want our accounts linked together anymore.

I don't understand.
Leave what off of your account?

My daughter went with her friend- I gave money for a 4 day ticket. Her friend's mom put my daughter on her account the ticket and magic band she was the account holder of them. In order to use the remaining tickets we had to do the friend and family option to link our accounts. We have since unlinked them and that removed my daughter from my account. I had to add my daughter back to my account as a new person- she no longer has a magic band linked to our account but the rest of us do.

Can I link the old magic band back to my daughter and be manager of her magic band with her new AP attached to her? I don't want the other mom to be the manager of the account.

You can't order your AP Magic Band until after you go to Guest Relations or a Ticket Window to activate the AP. After you have done that (I don't know how soon after) you can go into your My Disney Experience account and customize the Magic Band to which you are entitled for purchasing the AP. Since the Magic Band will be shipped to your house after you customize it, you probably will not be able to use it for that trip.

I'm not clear on the situation with your daughter. She was under Friend's Mom's account. That means Friend's Mom created an identity for daughter in Friend's Mom's account. Friend's Mom put the ticket into Friend's Mom's account. Friend's Mom assigned the ticket to daughter's identity in Friend's Mom's account. Daughter got a Magic Band which is connected to her identity in Friend's Mom's account and to that ticket.

Are there days left on that ticket?
If there are days left on that ticket, is it a non-expiring ticket?
Was it one of the Magic Bands which you get for staying at a Disney hotel, or was it a special Magic Band which you purchased?

If no days left on ticket and it was a free Magic Band - it will be less confusing if you set the Magic Band aside and never use it again.

If days left on the ticket but they have expired, and it was a free Magic Band - it will be less confusing if you set the Magic Band aside and never use it again.

If there are days left on the ticket, or if it was a special Magic Band -- I don't know if Disney IT can switch the ticket and Magic Band from Friend's Mom's account to your account. Somebody else will have to pop in and answer that once you have clarified the situation.

I have a Nov 2017 trip and a Feb 2018 trip. I want to upgrade my Nov park pass to an AP.
I want a purple Magic Band for November and pink for Feb. Will I get a Magic Band with my Feb trip if I already have the AP?
I am staying on-site for both trips.

I think what needs to happen is order purple for my Nov trip, then pink for the AP?

I thought if I upgraded a park ticket to an AP, I might only end up with 1 Magic Band across the two trips, but now I'm not sure if I'll end up with 2 or even 3!

Thanks!

If days left on the ticket but they have expired, and it was a free Magic Band - it will be less confusing if you set the Magic Band aside and never use it again. Ok I still have the band and wasn't sure if I could just link it to my account now (as owner) and add her annual pass to the band.

Disney told me last year that they couldn't do that- that we would have to use the family and friends option. I even tried at guest relations and that was a no go.

She will just use the annual pass card until we get our new bands. The rest of us can use our old bands correct?

One more question, when I go to will call that is the day the AP is activate or the day I go through the gate? Im purchasing today on the payment plan but we are not using until January as the passes are Christmas gifts this year.

How about the my oldest DD? I should leave that off my account right? Since its primary account was her friend's mother account. I don't want our accounts linked together anymore.

Do you control the accounts in question? If you do, then go ahead and link the APs to the accounts and you can use the existing bands. However, if the accounts were controlled by someone else, then you would either want to just walk away from those accounts and trash the bands, or get MDE support to help you claim those accounts and set them up as stand alone accounts. The age of the people on the account may come into play here, I'm not sure if they can or will be able to move accounts for minors.

If the accounts are under your control, you can simply deactivate/remove the connection via Friends & Family so the other family would no longer be able to plan things for those accounts.

I control everyone but my oldest DD. We have deleted that band and her from our account as to not cause confusion when adding the new AP. I then added her back as a new person on my account with no band linked to her. We will link the new band once it is received or may just let her purchase a special one when we go in January.

You get a magic band with every onsite visit.
