We purchased 10 park hopper tickets w/no expiry last year. We have 5 days left on those tickets. Can we purchase the AP with DVC discount and apply those unused 5 days towards the price of the AP ? If so, who do I call and how do I go about doing this ??

thanks

Keep in mind there is only a small dollar difference between a 5 day and a 10 day, you may not get much credit. They may be more valuable using the days.

Yes, you can do that. You may apply the remaining value of one of your partially used 10 day MYW tickets (with the no-expiration feature) to the purchase of each DVC-discounted AP or PAP. You can't apply more than one partially used ticket to the purchase of a single AP or PAP.

To do this, you must go in person to a guest relations booth at one of the major parks or in Downtown Disney. You cannot do this transaction by phone. (FWIW, I prefer the Downtown DIsney location. The CMs there are very knowledgable and there won't be a lot of people behind you chomping at the bit to get into a park, LOL). Obviously, if you want the DVC discount, you'll need to have your blue membership card available to show the CM.

Before you do this, be sure to ask the CM what value the partially used MYW ticket still has. It may be better to keep the MYW tickets to use for another trip. MYW tickets are front loaded. The last few days of the ticket are not worth nearly as much as the first few days - IIRC, the "trade in value" of the 9th & 10th day can be as little as $7 or $8.

Best wishes -

Another voice to suggest you hang on to the old tickets. I'll bet that you will be glad to have them some day. We have a whole bunch of extra tickets that we can use if we just want to go for a few days and don't want to buy new APs until a later visit. For example, our current APs expire Apr. 3 of 2007. I am going at the end of March and we are considering making another trip in later spring, then not again until Oct, 2007. We will probably use old hoppers for the late spring trip and then buy new APs in Oct, thus extending the life of the new APs until Oct, 2008. We even have a bunch of old pre-fingerscan hoppers that we save for friends/family who come for less than a week. The new MYW tickets are really a lousy deal if you buy only a few days, so we like having a way to help guests.

Thank you all for your responses. I think I'll hang on to the park hoppers and just use them for the beginning of our vacation and then purchase AP's towards the end of our vacation so as to extend their life.

Thanks again .
