We are new to DVC and we are thinking about purchasing the gold annual pass. We are going in September for 6 days and thinking about going again in June 2017. Is it worth it? Also is it true that with the AP that you can book your fast passes only 30 days out. Will this limit what we can get. My daughter really wants to do the new frozen ride

If you will go on 2 longer trips in 1 year absolutely it will save you money. A DVC gold pass is about $585 with tax and a 6 day ticket is about $375 without a park hopper-with the park hopper option it's more like $425. It also includes photo downloads if that is something you normally would purchase. You can get FP at 60 days for any onsite stays. It is 30 days for off site stays.

We often have a pattern of planning 2 - 3 trips on one AP then sitting out a year and buying again. We had a 10 day trip last summer in July-August when we got our current ones then DH and I went for 4 nights in Nov. then we had another family trip in January for 6 nights and now we have an 8 night trip coming up beginning next weekend. So that's 28 days for us on ours!! This year we're planning to renew our AP's for the first time as we enjoyed F&W so much we wanted to go again rather than sitting out a year - then we'll do another family trip in January while DS is home from college and then plan another trip for NEXT summer to once again get at least 3 trips on them. We feel like if we can get at least 10 days on them we've broken even - but obviously the more days the more the savings. When I compared the renewal price of $496 with tax to a 7-day park hopper at $467.53 it felt like a no-brainer.

Like I sais in another thread, be forewarned, because once you get an AP, It'll ruin ya...LoL It has a way of making you plan more & more trips...You see, the Mouse is waaay smarter than us...That's for sure.

This is true. My original AP was supposed to be for 2 trips ended up with 4. And I bought DVC.........

Same here, when we have passed we always take at least one unplanned trip a year. It was not bad before kids, but now the extra two plane tickets do add up in cost.

We take advantage of APs. They always work out to our advantage. We tend to take one long trip a year. In 2015 we went down for 10 days in November and this year we are going for 12 nights in October. Particulairily with the DVC discount, this works out great for us. It also gives you discounts on various merchandise/dining, and of course the free Photopass downloads, including ride photos.

We are also big fans of TIW. We eat at a lot of signatures, and enjoy wine/beer with most meals, and we visit the lounges, so it all works nicely together.

This is us exactly!! We originally had 2 trips planned. Then I was able to snag a value studio for my birthday making it 3 trips. You know, it didn't hurt to add it, everything was already paid for, lol! Then my husband decided he should have gone on the trip we leave for Saturday. Too late and flights are outrageous!! So we now have a 4th trip planned for August before our passes expire. Too bad we are out of points and will be staying at Ft. Wilderness cabins.

I just wanted to do cheap. I said we could squeeze into a value for a week, but my husband put the nix on that!! He likes separate room, so he can drink his morning coffee without waking us. It will be an experience!! The only problem is my FP day is Saturday, the day we leave for this trip. I can't make FPs until we get home though or the kids will see them in the app. We are attempting a surprise trip for the first time. We've almost slipped a dozen times already!!
