Annual Passes

Hey Everyone,
Does anybody know how Annual Passes work in regards to the starting date? We are going next month and want to get Annual Passes for more visits this year, but I dont know if they are activated from the purchase date or the first day they are used. Can anyone help me out? Thanks a lot

If you purchase the AP at the park it starts on that date. If you purchase the AP on-line or at Disney store then you get a voucher and it doesn't activate until you use it.
