Despite how many times Ive been to Florida - annual passes are something new to me?

Are there any threads explaining benefits of annual passes please?

Where can you buy them from and what do you feel youve saved?

Thanks,
lynn

We have gone for annual passes for the 1st time. For us benefits are very few, we dont stay onsite or use Disney restraunts (even our friends who work for Disney with healthy discounts rarely use them because of price increases)
Only reason we bought this time is we are currently here for 25 nights, back again for Xmas and again for Easter. With our friends CM discount they worked out slightly better value than Magic your way tickets.
Free parking helped sway towards AP's
I think they could give benefits like other parks.
Other annual passes are a lot better value for us, Universal/IOA $99/year and SeaWorld $145 for 2 years and the benefits are a lot better with 10-15% off just about everything you buy.

Hi!
Thanks.
So presumably the 12 months starts from the first day of use?

Thanks,
Lynn

Yes. They start the first time you use them. We don't get them every year, but do get them if we're going more than once in a year. You can usually get room discounts on site if you have an annual pass. You can watch the DISboards for codes when they come out. If you just want the room discount and your staying for enough nights, you can get just one annual pass for the person who is making the reservation.

Well good morning to all of you, but good night for me. I'm in New York, so it's time for me to get to bed!

We bought ours from Guest Relations at DownTown Disney on our first evening. :)

We've been buying APs for years now and, whilst we have made use of resort discounts a few times, that isn't why we buy them. Once you've experienced the freedom and flexibility they provide, you'll never want to go back to fixed ticketing. Being able to come and go as you please without feeling you've wasted a day is the real benefit, IMHO. If we want to pop into Epcot just for IllumiNations, we can do that without a second thought. In the days when we bought Hoppers, I'd have planned on getting to a park half an hour before opening and leaving half an hour after closing! :rotfl:

The free parking is also worthwhile albeit not a huge deal if you're having to buy more than one AP. We tend to forget to use it for dining and shopping discounts (although I do always remember at the World of Disney). As an AP holder, you can buy the Disney Dining Experience card for $60. It gives you 20% off food and beverages (including alcohol) at almost all full-service Disney restaurants. It doesn't take long to pay for itself. It effectively covers tips. Our party of 6 will save over $200 at V&As in October.

No ones mentioned that if you work it that you go twice in one year they're well worth the cost. If you go every year that is.

For instance, this year we are going mid-october, next year we'll go start of october so that we get to use the passes twice. Bit of an outlay up front for the first year but zero for second year !

Also, free parking saves a fair bit if u think about it !!!!

And, of course, theres a 10% discount in a few shops and restaurants !

if you a dvc member you get $100 off.
we used it in July when we went for four weeks
