Hi!

This is my very first attempt at posting a thread anywhere and you folks all seem so helpful so here it goes and please forgive me if this has been asked already...

I'm planning a trip to Universal next May 07 and wish to stay at the HRH.
My question...do I call the hotel directly to inquire about AP rates and can I purchase one at the time of booking a reservation or must I have the AP already? Also do the prices of the AP's vary throughout the year and where is the best place to get one? What do you think is the best month to book for next May?

You can call the 800 number and ask them directly. I have ap and called and they never asked for my ap number. They also have discounts if you have AAA. Don't forget to sign up for the loews card.

The price for the ap is always the same. They are running a special right now with Beall's Dept. store where you can buy a 2 year ap for the price of one. Don't know if you ever plan on going back the next year.

The problem is you probably won't be able to get an AP rate yet. I called last week to enquire about rack rates for January and was told to phone back next month.

I'm certainly not an expert (my first time booking HRH too!), but from what I understand, I should book at the best available rate once they are released, and then check continually for a better rate - either AP or AAA. It's easy enough to check daily on the website - just enter APH or AAA in the "promotional code" box. If discounts are posted for AP or AAA you can call back and have your ressie changed to the new rate. Then you need to purchase the AP or AAA membership and have it available at check-in. I've been watching the rates for just a little while and it seems discounts are released 2 to 3 months out, but I could be wrong. Does anyone know if they are sometimes released earlier than that?

Too soon for the APH rates like Lizziejane, mentioned. You can check all the rates as they are released at http://www.universalorlando.com/ht_index.html enter APH, AAA, FLO (if you are a florida or georgia resident). You don't need to have the actual AP for booking just for check in. In the mean time go to www.loewshotels.com and join the loews first program.

Various AP discounts are promoted at times during the year. Bealls has one right now but I am uncertain of the expiration dates. You only need one PAP for the hotel discount.

I booked in January for my May trip this year.
