I kind of figured it might be that way. My son will be terribly disappointed. I read somewhere that there is a discount card for passholders to use at the restaurants.
We just appreciated the simplicity of the dining plan.
I'm an AP holder and have had the free DDP twice (will be three times this Sept) and have also bought the DDP twice. However, to do it you have to pay rack rate for the room and buy at least a one MYW ticket (about $72.00) for everyone in the room. You can then use your AP while you are down there and save the one day MYW ticket to use at a future date to renew your AP (or buy whatever ticket you want). The one day MYW ticket will be good for eternity, as long as you never put it into a turnstyle.
The Disney Dining Experience card you are talking about is I believe $65.00 for AP holders and will get you 20% off most TS meals and also meals in resort food courts where the resort do not have a TS restaurant.
