DH and I are looking at ticket options and have decided to buy annual passes. We were also considering the DDE however if we buy AP can we opt for DDP? We will have most of our meals at WDW as we are staying on site and will have DS with us - what option should we go for?

I thought that the DDE (disney dining experience) card is one of the things you can buy if you have an AP. I think the card costs $50 or something like that, and entitles you to 20% discount on meals.

By DDP i assume you mean the Disney Dining Plan. I thought that this is something that you buy as part of a package. I don't know if the package also includes tickets, because if it does than you'd be paying for tickets when you already have the AP. But maybe it doesn't include tickets.

In any case, as to whether the DDP is worth it for you in comparison to the DDE card is something you have to calculate for yourself. Go to Allearsnet.com and check the menus (i think they have prices there) and you can figure out how much you would save or not with the DDP over the DDE.

If you are going to buy annual passes then the DDE is well worth the money as you said you would be eating at Disney. Our's paid for it self after just 2 meals (4 adults).
If you are doing DDP then you will have to buy the MYW tickets to take advantage of the offer. You could not use your AP towards this. Hope that makes sence?

when are you going as they have the free dinning offer in place for end of august througth sept

Yes it's right. You can only have the free dining with a package, so need to stay at a Disney resort and buy park tickets (though you could just buy a one day ticket - no need to buy for your length of stay).

Every year I decide I will buy just one annual pass (regular tickets for the rest of the family)to take advantage of the annual passholders resort rates, but then an offer such as free dining comes out which you can't use with a passholders discount.

I reckon the DDE should come free with an annual pass - I'm not convinced that it is such good value when compared to the Dining Plan, although I suppose that depends who often you are going to get to WDW in any given year.

When I was making reservations for our trip in June with the AP, I was told that I could purchase the DDP. It has to be purchased for the entire length of stay. I called on several different occassions to confirm. I only got one person who said no. All the other agents were going to sell me the package. I chose not to do the DDP because we are going to be at WDW for 18 days and the plan can be very expensive for that lengeth.
