So last year we went and got the meal plan which we LOVED! So we want to get it again this year but we are also considering getting an annual pass. We have basially gone every year for a while now and forsee doing that again this year. I also want to try the Halloween thing next year so we thought the annual pass would be great. However I don't know if we still qualify for the mealplan??? Anyone know and if not why?

I have an annual pass and we're staying at BCV on rented points this October. DVC owners (and the people they rent to) can get the Dinng Plan without purchasing tickets. You could also just buy a one day pass with a regular MYW package. If you have an AP you can get a discount on your MNSSHP tickets too.

Make the reservations for your length of stay and purchase a one day pass. While you're there, upgrade your one day pass to annual passes. You can't use annual passes only.

Just note that you will have to pay rack rates for your room in order to get the meal plan so you won't be able to take advantage of the ap room discounts. Not worht it IMHO.

Giving up the AP room discount to get the meal plan is not worth it.

I agree with the above.

What you want to do is get the AP's. Use the AP discount on your room.
Buy the DDE card for $60 to save 20% on meals at almost every TS restaurant.

Just want to second what the above poster's said. We already have AP and wanted the dining plan for a quick 3 night trip. We could get the dining plan but would have had to pay rack rate for the room (this was told to us over the reservation line). When we took into account how much more we were paying for the room, we decided the dining plan wasn't worth it.

We priced it for our last trip and this trip, and actually came even during the free dining time. If you stay at a value, the free DDP is better, because the AP room discount is very small, moderate is ok, but deluxe is where you save the most as you can save a lot on your AP room rate. Of course your dining preferences (how many sit down meals vs. counter service you plan on) makes a difference also, but for us, the pricing came even.
