We are planning a trip for August 2017- I know the water park will open at the beginning of the summer- Will the water park be included in the AP? Trying to decide if I should buy the AP or the Explorer ticket as part of a package.

At this point, they don't seem to.

So the AP wouldn't be worth it if we want to go to the water park if I am reading correctly?

Just looking online a bit, it seems my only option is to go with a smaller number of park days or do a package with Universal to get the Explorer ticket. I can't find the Explorer ticket anywhere except as part of the package. Does this sound correct?

That is normal for them. Apparently you can buy it on some third party websites though. There are some posts on this forum about others doing that.

I would imagine that they will be adding more information soon about APs with the 3 park option. At WDW it is an $80 surcharge for the AP with the water park.
