I am going to WDW in April for 5 days and then again for 3 days in June. I called to inquire about whether the resort discounts for pass holders plus the cost of the pass would be less than what I'm paying for my packages. I was told that the summer offers for pass holders isn't out yet. Anybody have any experience with something like this?

Annual passholder discounts tend to come out pretty late in Disney planning terms. I just checked the passholder site and the current discount only goes out to June 15th. Is your June trip before or after that? The public summer discount is out now and I'd expect the AP discount to show up some time in mid-April to early-May.

If you don't get the pass by the time the AP rooms are released, then there is a possibility that they could sell out. We did the same thing last year to try and book and could not get the room we were looking for with the AP discount. If you have the passes by the time the discount comes available though, you have a good chance if you book it first thing that morning. After looking at the AP discount you get on the rooms plus all of the perks you get with the annual pass such as free parking, merchandise and food discount, it was definitely worth it for us even though the fist time around we did not get the discount on the room.

i don't understand your post.

Guests do not have to own an AP in order to book AP discounted rooms.

Unless we got misinformed by Disney or confused, the Annual Pass room discount is separate from the regular season room discount such as the spring or summer offer and you have to buy an annual pass to get the annual pass discount on rooms. I remember until we got the actual annual passes with the number to link them to our account, we could not log onto the annual pass holder site and the rooms for the annual pass offer did not show up on the room booking page until we linked them to our account. Last year, we tried to book an annual pass rate a week after it was released and the room we wanted at a monorail resort was sold out for that offer.

The summer AP discounts are available for June, but they call it spring

You cannot book online with the AP discount unless you already have one, but you can call and get the discount. As long as you have an AP or the voucher when you arrive, you're fine.

We're waiting for the AP discount for mid June and beyond. I'm guessing they'll be out by mid April at the latest. Last years discount included free memory maker but as far as pure discount, I expect it will be very close to what the summer discount currently is- possibly slightly better.

Yup.
You can wait to see if you can get a room discount before you commit to the AP.

If you purchase the AP now, you can add it to your Disney Experience account and you will be able to log into the AP section and get the discounts and sign up for AP communications. And the clock will not start on the AP until you get it from guest relations. This will also allow you to make FP+ reservations at the earliest mark.

Actually buying an AP in the hope of trying to book an AP discount room is not necessary.
The AP discounts can be booked without currently owning (and paying for) an AP.

So, if the AP room discounts come out and you get one of those rooms, THEN you can purchase the AP
(and yes, book the advance FP+) for the time that you KNOW you'll be staying in that discounted room.

I'm just sayin'
