If you are going to disney for jsut a week and you are a DVC owner, what is the best way top purchase park tickets? The annual pass seems expensive. When I did my calculation to see how long it would take me to recover or break even I did not take into account into buying Park tickets.

We will be going once a year (most of the time). Our trips will always be in August because I am a teacher and can only go during summer (would not try to go during our February or April breaks because the airfare from Syracuse, NY is sky high these weeks--everyone is escaping the snow!!!).

Knowing this, we will buy AP's and then plan our vacations so we can get 2 trips out of one pass, thus buying them every OTHER year. So, one year, I might go August 16th - August 23rd, and then following year, go a week or 2 earlier. Using this year's rate of 393.00 (includes tax), it makes each 7 day trip under $200.00 per person.

Don't forget you currently get a $100 DVC discount on the adult AP.

The way i see it is, if you go for 2 trips and at least 5 days at the park each trip, you ahead with the AP. Went in december with my DIL, my wife and I had the AP from back in March. Cost $270  for 5 nights park hopper for both DIL. Had we gone again, would have cost another $270. I believe over 5 days, that's when it gets really down to almost nothing per additional day. But since i plan on going at least twice a year if no more, i'll stick with the AP.

We will be going once or maybe even every other year so is there a cheaper way then the annual pass if your only going once a year for 5-7 days.

Thanks

I'm a new member and am planning on going every other year. As far as tickets, my plan is to buy 10-day Park Hoppers with the No Expiration added. I may even buy 10-day MYW tickets with NE to use on the days we don't Park Hop. I have figured that this will last us 4-5 trips (so that's the next 8-10 years). It's a lot up front, but I will save BIG time in the long run, especially when you consider the tickets prices go up each year!

That is true-
i usually go twice a year and around the same time, so i get the AP with DVC discount for $379 and if i renew it withing 30 days of expiration, there's another $40 discount. Can't beat that for 2 x a year visit.

Do you have any interest at all in the water parks or Disney Quest? I believe for $50 more you would get 10 visits and they would also be no expiration. Since they don't have to be used the same day as your main park admissions you'd potentially have another 10 days of activities.

With an annual pass, is there a discount on alcohol? I thought I read somewhere that there is a 20% for drinks, just not sure how to get it. Thanks!!

You're close.....as an annual pass holder you are eligible to buy a Tables in Wonderland card (TIW here on the DIS). It costs $60 and gets you 20% off, including alcoholic drinks, at participating restaurants. Like the annual pass, your TIW card would be in effect for a year. Oh, and one card can be used to discount the bill of your whole party.....I forget up to how many. Someone else can fill that in, but I think it's like up to 8 people?
