I hope I am asking this in the right place, if not let me know. I am thinking about buying an annual pass to get a lower hotel rate it seems to mak sense from a math point of view. We want to stay on site April 8th for three nights. Does the pass become effective from the first date of use of the date you purchase it? If anyone has bought the AP in the past do they feel that it was a good value or a waste of money?

Thanks

Cathy

The pass becomes active one year from the first day that you use it. Not from the day you purchase it. IMO, the perks of being a passholder are great. Depending on which pass you get. From what I've heard though, sometimes you can receive the same discounts with your annual pass that you can receive through AAA. It just depends on what time of year you go. There are some offers through AAA that allow you to receive free tickets or extra nights that you don't receive with an annual pass. I know one of the current specials is the Stay for Four, Play for Free offer. If you stay on property for four nights, you receive two complimentary seven-day/two-park tickets.

I've had my Preferred AP for five years now and won't give it up! The discounts alone are worth it. Plus...you get free parking, park discounts and are able to purchase tickets for your friends/family at a discount. You can't do that with a Disney AP.

Its a good value imo. Room discounts are very nice and they give nice perks with the annual pass that Disney does not offer. I will renew my Universal AP but wont the Disney. The value for Universal is big difference. Only gripe is you still have to pay for parking while staying onsite but still its worth it when having FOTL.

One of the main reasons for having our Preffered AP passes is for the discounts and the amount of times we visit per year. Almost everytime we go the AP discount on the rooms is the cheapest rate. Except this summer we are booked right now with the SS rate and will be watching the AP rate until we go. Then there are plenty of discounts all throughout the park and city walk. Plus they have sometimes special events for only AP holder and special viewing areas for those events.:thumbsup2
