Annual Pass

I'm planning a trip for 9/09 :guilty: wish it were sooner. Anywho, I was thinking about getting 1 annual pass, for the 8 days we will be there. There is a difference of $182.00 it would cost $266.00 for an 8 day park hopper. I'm looking to see if the discounts that go along with an annual pass would make getting one cheaper, in the long run. I've looked around but I can't seem to find a site that spells it all out. The Disney site is vague in its description. We plan on staying at the cabins in FW, I'm hoping a lodging discount would help. Also is the DDE worth it? Also, I believe the first AP that you purchase doesn't begin until it's first day of use in the park, is that so? I would rather buy the AP now to off set next years costs. Thanks in advance to any help someone can provide.

that is correct

And if you buy your AP here in GA from AAA it only costs $425.75 + tax, so you will save even more.

I can't tell you how much I have already saved by purchasing one and by the time my Anniversary date rolls around I will have gotten at least 3 trips out of it, so the savings of not having to buy tickets each time is almost priceless.

The DDE card is $60 now, I paid $65 in December 2007 and it saved us at least that much on one 5 day trip and probably more.

http://allearsnet.com/pl/apass.htm has all the info you need on them.

Thank you both for your help. Suzanne, for some unknown reason allears.net didn't come to mind. Mind you, I get their email twice a week, duh. I'm going to give AAA a call to see if I can get a discounted one woo hoo!

:dance3: Hope I can jump in on info about the AP. Let me get this right, buy one AP and that serves as your entrance into any park for the year? What about ticket for the rest of the family, do I need to purchase AP's for everyone? I too tried figuring the info out but was a bit :confused3. Can you help?:flower3:

An annual pass is good for a whole year for any & all the theme parks & for how many times you want to go to the parks. you have to have a pass for each member of your family. It is great if you travel to disney more than once a year or if you go every year, you can get @ least 2 years worth of trips with the 1 annual pass. it is also good for discounts on hotel rooms & @ the disney store in downtown disney. :goodvibes :rolleyes1

:dance3: Thanks a bunch. So I need a pass for each member of the family. We usually only go 1x a year but our visits are a minimum of 8 days. This year it is 11. Do you think this is worth the price of the ticket? Also I guess I could plan a 2nd trip just before the year is up on the annual. Do you know if the AP also includes the water parks?:dance3:

here's another question along those lines.

If you get the parkhopper tickets with your room package, can you "convert" them to an AP for WDW? I know that if you go to DLR and get a two or three days pass, etc. you can turn them in for credit if you purchase an AP on the spot!

Not the regular AP. You go get $4 off for admission to waterparks and DisneyQuest. You can get the premium AP that has these option and it is about $100 more.....

And if you are a DVC Member you get $100 off your pass.

Even if you go 1X a year, you can schedule your second trip a couple of weeks before your AP expires, and get 2 trips out of your AP. So, for example, if you go end of May one year, the year after that you can schedule your trip for the beginning of May, and use the same AP. I hope that makes sense.

So if I purchase an annual pass now and don't plan on using it until April of 2009, my year doesn't start until I actually use it in April? Also, we plan on camping at Fort wilderness in our camper, is it still worth it to get an annual pass. what would be discounted?

If you get a voucher, it is not activated until you "turn it in" at Guest Relations (ie we bought our vochers in Sept 07, didn't "turn in" until Dec 07 and it is good until Dec 08). If you get the actual pass, it will begin that day.

There may be AP rates available at the campground, but I am not sure. It is still good for all the other discounts though, especially if you do your shopping at World Of Disney at DTD. It definitely saves on buying park tickets multiple times. We will get 3 trips out of our tickets and I can't imagine what I have already saved. We wouldn't have been able to take all these trips if we had to buy tickets each time.
