Annual Pass Voucher

I just spent a frustrating 45 minutes on the phone with various departments at WDW trying to get an answer to this question: Can I swap an old AP voucher (which does not have the info needed for the Best Rates program) for a new voucher? Any one know? I will be at WDW, but do NOT want to activate my AP voucher on this trip.

I was transferred from Ticket Services to Guest Services (which I later found out was Resort Guest Services). The person at GS told me that you could not use a voucher to book an AP rate, that you must travel to WDW, activate your voucher, then you could book your next trip that is at least 60 days out using an AP discount.

Of course, she also told me that my AP voucher could not be converted to an AP in any event becuase it was issued in 1999, and would not be good for AK!!!?!! Why? Becuase AK did not open until 2000! I guess the period from April 22, 1998 until 2000 was just a "soft opening!"

I don't know why I even bother with the customer reps at Disney! Thanks for your help. -- Suzanne

Guest Services was wrong. A voucher will serve you just FINE to book a best rate room.

As for switching vouchers - I don't know if that can be done. I would call the Annual Pass line, and explain your situation.

407-560-PASS

I once had to try and find out if group rate tickets were available. The people at group sales would NOT help me. I had to speak to a different group sales department!!! :confused3

Just keep calling and explaining your situation, and EVENTUALLY you will get to the right person. (Assuming someone here doesn't know the answer. :) )

Sorry Snackystacky,I'm not disputing that you don't know what you are talking about, but honouring a voucher for AP discounts/best room rate just doesn't make sense? If you could do that then you could surely keep the voucher, never activating it,& receive the discounts forever? I also don't think they would exchange it for a new voucher as their argument would be that the old one is still "good"

I've booked a best rate reservation with a voucher. I don't think Disney can honestly require ONLY an activated pass with this program, because if you PURCHASE an annual pass - there's absolutely no way to GET those discounts until you visit and can then activate your pass.

So whether it makes sense or not, it's doable.

On our last trip to Disney, Oct. 04, we booked the AP rate with our exchange voucher. When we arrived and checked in we were asked to return to the front desk with our activated AP's before the end of the trip or our room rate would revert to full rack rate. This was at Boardwalk.

I'm editing because I just remebered that I have a AP Exchange Certificate with me. If you look on the Certificate it lists the rules of redemption and the parks it is valid at. It says on mine "not valid for parks commencing operation after May 1, 1998" Which I assume was the opening date of AK. This makes me think that 10 years from now if they open a new park I can redeem this ticket, but only use it for MK, epcot, MGM and AK.
