I have the free dining plan deal booked through WDTC, staying onsite with the 14 day ultimate ticket. Can I upgrade this to an annual pass?

If so, does anyone know approx how much and where do I do it? Can it be done before we go or at check in?

TIA

Price will vary from CM to CM. It will be the difference roughly between the converted 14 day ultimate price and the AP price.

It can only be done at at theme park ticket window or a guest relations office after you have checked in.

Hi Claire.
Yes you can upgrade but depends on the CM how easy it is. Some will even say its not possible, some will overprice, some will say you can only upgrade to Premium AP (which is true if you have already used your Ultimate in a waterpark or Disney Quest)

See my post from last year when we upgraded 21 day tickets. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=45652887&postcount=311

For price, convert what you have paid for you UK ticket into $'s, look at cost of an AP, tale away what you have paid and you roughly have the cost to upgrade, we did better than that but some do worse, again depends on CM.

Do they use the exchange rate of the day you upgrade or the day you bought the Ultimate ticket to judge the value of your ultimate ticket?

Thanks for the info. :)

Am I right in thinking with a regular AP you get 10% off in the shops but with a PAP it's 20%?

Not anymore as far as I know. That was the deciding factor when we bought last summer but they removed the benefit around Xmas time so unless its changed again since its 10% off for both AP's and PAP's.

:( thats a shame!

No, still 10% for all APs.

I believe that it was done because of the switch to the RFID cards. The new AP cards are not printed on like the old tickets and the CM has to right your name on - so my guess it was easier to makes the perks the same across all APs than have different types of card.

We all know if Disney IT was better they could have found a way to swipe the card and get the correct discount automatically applied :rolleyes1

(Mind you the discount only used to be at World of Disney upto a few years ago so at least it is everywhere now even if it is only 10%)

Hi there, we did this in May this year for approx. £550 additional cost for 2 adults and two children, We were staying onsite with free DP.

We went to Guest services in Downtown Disney and it was done on that days exchange rate. Before we gave the go ahead to convert to regular AP's we asked if they would be valid for 12 months from that day or the first day of our trip. When it all went through they had been activated from the day that we changed them to AP's not the first day of trip when we entered the parks, something to consider if you are working it around school holidays, it may work out better to chance it and convert on the last day. Obviously you wouldn't be able to take advantage of the store/restaurant discounts though throughout your trip.

Also we made sure that we used them before we left (even though we could have carried on using our key to the world cards), the reason being is that I had read that if you lose them it's far easier to replace them if they have already been activated, otherwise you may encounter a lot of problems getting them replaced - just something to consider if you do upgrade.

We upgraded to the AP as we had flights for Christmas already booked. When we went to book accommodation for this trip, we wanted to add the dining plan (worked out cheaper to do lots of special meals for the children). We were unable to do this through the UK site, they told us no dining plan could be added if we hadn't booked as a package with park tickets. We had to book through US site which worked out a couple of hundred pounds more, so it hasn't worked out quite as cheaply as we originally thought!!

Hope some of this helps.

We have also upgraded our ultimate passes to APs in the past and are currently here. We asked at Guest Services at DD on Sunday and were quoted $200 to upgrade to the standard AP and $306 to upgrade to Premium AP. We have 21 day ultimates and are here for 4 weeks - worth it for the extra week and the saving in parking once we check out. I was keen to do it there and then but CM at Guest Services says that they're currently experiencing difficulties doing this with the new RFID technology and KTTW cards. Seemingly it mucks up QSDP credits and so advised us to upgrade on Saturday when we check out. WIll keep you posted. :thumbsup2
