I looked for an answer for this in the ticket thread and couldn't find one. I leave Friday for a 5-day trip to WDW with my 4 kids. I've considered upgrading our tickets to an annual pass if I feel I could handle all 4 of them on my own on a regular basis, so we could visit again in July before school starts, fall break in October and spring break next year. If I upgrade my current 5-day ticket during the trip, will the annual pass be linked to the magic bands we have for the trip, be assigned to a new magic band Guest Services gives us for the annual pass, or do we have to buy new magic bands to link the annual passes to MDE? This is all new to me and I have no idea how all this works with MDE, new reservations, etc.

Their is nothing "on" or "assigned" to a specific MB except a code identifying you and linking to your MDE account. Any MB that is active on your profile will link to your ticket information so your current MB and any new MB you receive (if they continue as they are, you will receive one for every onsite trip plus an AP one) is interchangeable.

Just go to guest services inside a park to upgrade. They will link your AP to your My Disney Experience. Any magicbands you have linked to MDE will read your AP, so no need for new bands. They will also give you AP cards for discounts.

My hubs did just this last Nov. Your MB you have will work and you can go onto MDE once you do upgrade and order your AP MB that will be shipped to you along with your discount card.
