Annual Pass sleeve.....am I crazy?

I thought I read somewhere that beginning in 2006 the pass sleeves were not going to include a benefits guide anymore. Can anyone confirm or deny? If this is true I'll really miss this feature. It was quite convenient to have a list of benefits right at your fingertips. I hope they didn't do away with this.

It's true. At least for the florida resident annual pass. It's no longer a little booklet of pages, but most of the important info is actually imprinted on the fold-out sleeve itself now. Mine got wet on a particulary rainy day and was ruined, so I don't have it anymore. But it's true it's no longer a little booklet. As far as PREMIUM passes go, I don't know.

Yup, it's not a booklet attached, but now the sleeve folds out into (annoying) long pages that have a bit of information. I just got mine this weekend and I keep my ticket in the sleeve, so it was very annoying to have that accordion open up every time I needed a FP.

At the passholder site I believe you can print out a full list of benefits.

OK, just dug it out. Here's the headers of what's in the new sleeve:

"Passholder Information Resources" - telling you where to get the rest of the info, ie Mickey Monitor and website

"Pass Entitlements" - then it says "see below for..."

OK, then it lists the Premium AP, AP, and Florida Resident AP, with a very brief list, just basically of the parks you can visit (plus PI and DQ where applicable).

Here's what's on the back -

"Upcoming Key Events" - EPSN weekend, Flower and Garden, Star Wars, Food and Wine, Super Soap, Holiday stuff

"Important Information" - basic legal stuff

Not much at all...I didn't really look at it in depth before now.

Hope this helps!

We got ours because our 2005 one was falling apart. It certainly is smaller, but it had some useful information. If you really depend on the information you wish was in the booklets you could still carry it around in a purse or wallet.

I had not heard that but do usually refer to Deb's site for current info.....

OK, just found the little blurb I must have remembered seeing (I wasn't crazy after all!).
According to allearsnet: "View your benefits online beginning in January 2006. Then you can Pass on the Sleeve. Soon your Pass Sleeves will be lighter than ever! Why? Because we're moving your Passholder discounts, benefits, entitlements and more (including a printer-friendly version of them) from the Pass Sleeve to the disneyworld.com/passholder website. Keep a lookout!"

Well I don't want to 'Pass on the Sleeve'!! I want my portable benefits guide back!!

I don't suppose anyone has some digital photos of this new monstrosity that they could post?? (hint, hint dmk1021)

And :thanks: for the info everyone!

The discounts and such are gone from the AP wallet, but they have a cardboard card the size of the park hours and info cards that they give you now that has the discount information by type of discount. The card is entitled Passholder Benefits & Discounts and has the Disney copyright and 0406 on the back footer area so the copy I got is new from April 2006 forward.

Thanks, I take it this is something you picked up at the parks right?

Yes. We got our AP's on the 6th and they gave us the info card with the wallets (or at least at TTC they do).

Good Morning!

Here's some pics:

Hope these help (it's hard to get more detail and not blow everything out with the flash).

dmk1021,

Thanks for the pics, just what I was hoping for!!!
You were right, it's quite the accordion. Guess I'll just have to make do with this new setup. If I can get the new pass sleeve and the info card I suppose I'll just have to deal with it. But that doesn't mean I can't whine and cry about it some more for awhile right? I don't know why they bothered to change this, it was working just fine and it seems like between the extended sleeve part and the separate info card they are printing about the same amount of info anyway. Silly if you ask me, why not just keep it all bound together. Perhaps the cost of staples was just too much for the budget to handle. Another WDW 'improvement' gone wrong.

I noticed dmk1021's pass sleeve has a 12/05 copyright date on it and Big Tigger mentioned a copyright date of 04/06 on the info card, maybe they had some complaints about this and rushed out a printed info card to solve the problem. I can only hope that they return to the old format next year. Between AP, DDE and DVC it's hard for me to keep all my benefits straight anyway without having to have a bunch of separate papers everywhere. C'mon Disney help me out here!

(Wouldn't a sleeve/booklet be great for DDE too!)

I actually like the newer sleeves....I always ended up just sticking the other ones in a drawer somewhere.

I just got mine last Thursday (8/10), but it was at MK, so maybe they have the "better" ones elsewhere?

I'm guessing BigTigger has the same sleeve you do but was able to pick up an info card as well. From the sound of it the info card is something totally separate similar to the papers they print up for park hours. Correct BigTigger?
Does your sleeve look like dmk1021's?

My sleeve is just like the ones in the picture. The CM that gave us the annual passes had given the new printed card along with the sleeves. I'll scan the card when I get home tomorrow and post it.

Thanks, that would be great!

Given that I can never seem to get in to the passholder website that's not overly helpful.
