We purchased annual passes recently and was wondering how you go about renewing them if you're not at Universal anywhere near the time that they expire. Also, how much does it cost to renew? We bought them on the Universal website "buy one, get 2nd at 50% off".

thanks in advance!!

I think there's a special $99 AP renewal rate going until the end of February.

You have 30 days from the time your pass expires to renew it... The renewal rate is $99.99. Please contact us (800)564-5764 for any further assistance. Thank You!

Gosh, I hope this info is not correct. I was told that you could renew when you next returned, no matter how long it was. I wonder when this changed  ?

I bought a renew almost 2 years ago and I just used it the other day. I was told by passholder services that they don't expire.

Well I don't know what you're talking about, I bought a renewal in 2001 and I had to renew if before April 2002. I bought it in December 2001.

That quote is what AnnualPass@universalorlando.com told me but Robert is right and Universal is wrong.

i would say you are both right. Universal has had so many different renewal deals with so many different conditions it is had to keep track of them all.

There was a deal last year that you got a special price but had to activate the pass by March or April.

What Robert Walker has is the vouchers purchased two years ago at the end of 2001 where you could buy vouchers for $99 for renewal. these never expire. we bought 3 and when our current passes end we can use them to renew.

so if you use a future renewal voucher make sure you know the conditions attached to that voucher and write it on the voucher. You may forget what the conditions are but the magnetic strip will always remember:smooth: :smooth:

Actually, I was told that renewal vouchers never expire...
If you're buying a certain pass and it happens to BE a renewal for YOU, then the "conditions" would apply, but if you buy a voucher for renewal, then they don't expire. (this is what I was told by guest services both when I bought renewals and when I redeemed the vouchers recently) In order to qualify for a renewal deal, (the $99 deal) like they are running now and they ran at the end of last year, you need to get the voucher either before your pass expires, or within 30 days of expiration. And you can stock up too. :)

MIB, the deal you're talking about where you had to activate by March or whatever...what deal was that?

Karen :smooth:

MIB was talking about the 2 park Annual Pass deal in 12.2001, when you bought the voucher to redeem it you had until 4.28.02 to renew it or your pass would be invaild and you wasted your money.

Then in March, they had the 2 Park 2 Year annual pass and when you got that with the lotto tickey you had until July to renew that voucher or that would be invaild.

I figured it was one of those deals which goes back to what I said about those not being specifically renewal deals, so that's why they have expiration dates. The vouchers that they give you when you get a renewal deal don't expire and you can buy bunches and bunches of them, so you need never pay more than $99 again! :)

MIB9's and I got the deal where you buy one year, you get one free, so for $160, you get 2 years. That was the lotto deal because I remember buying a lotto ticket for it. But we redeemed ours Aug.17th and I believe that one ran until Sept. for redemption. I think they've offered the lotto deal more than once...I dunno.

You are correct MIB. I did but the vouchers in 2001 and I bought 3 of them. The passholder department did tell me that they will not expire I even asked her a second time about it. She did tell me that I will need to make sure that I don't demgnitize the magnetic stripe but if it does happen you will still be able to renew your pass but it will take a little longer than it would have with the good magnetic stripe. I don't know about the current passes if they do expire. When I get ready I hope they are running the same deal again and I will stock up again.

I recently used two of the vouchers that were purchased for $99 last Dec. and when I tried to have the kids use them at the turnstiles, to go in and go to pass processing, they scanned and came up as "expired" (they were over a year old - they were purchased 12/21/01 and being redeemed 12/23/02). So we had to go to the ticket window and she reissued new ones. I asked her again if vouchers for renewal expire and she said "no, never, I don't know why these came up that way" I pointed out that they were over a year and she said that could be it...it might be a glitch in the system. Anyway, it was no big deal and she reconfirmed that renewal vouchers never expire.

Well, the one I got in 2001 for $99 has an expiration date in bold texted on it.

Now if you got that deal like I got, at the same time then the pass was expired by 12/23/02. If you got a reissued pass then why did Universal bother putting expiration dates on the Vouchers? I would have redeemed my in April 02 instead of January but I couldn't because the expiration date restricted me from doing so.

I would suggest people look at the voucher when you get them because they all of the ones I have ever gotten, have had an expiration date on them.

You take that into count with the picture I provided and that e-mail AnnualPass@universalorlando.com sent me and you have Universal's statement not mine. What I have posted is what I have seen on tickets and what Universal told me.

I would imagine if there are any questions about this got e-mail AnnualPass@universalorlando.com or call them (800)564-5764.

I am NOT an expert on tickect sales and I don't know how the expiration works, I have heard so many stories now so I don't know. I just know what I seen and what I have been told and that's all I am passing along to you.

Right, and it's NOT a renewal voucher. I already said that other deals DO expire.

Erm, how do you post pics like that on here? I tried once before but it failed. I used the [img*]source of image.jpg[/img*] (minus the * of course) code, yet it didn't show. Was it because the image was hosted on an MSN site or what?

Some sites won't allow you to host pictures like the one I posted.

WHEW!!!!

Breathing a sigh of relief. I bought 4 in Jan '02 and another in Dec '02 and none of them have an expiration date on them. I remember grilling the people selling them to be sure that they are, in fact, vouchers. I would have been upset!

You can post pictures from yahoo or msn sites simply by saving them as .txt files. Go into your ftp program and rename your picture from picture.jpg or picture.gif to picture.txt and then post as you tried before. My sig is from a geocities site that normally will not let you post as as jpg of gif.
