Annual Pass Renewal Question

This may have been posted in several of the other threads regarding the new annual passes, but I foolishly am waiting until the last minute on our trip (leaving in just a few hours) and my really quick late night search yielded no results for me.

1) I am a current Annual Passholder and DVC member. My annual pass expires somewhere in the vicinity of October 25. I'm heading to WDW today and will be finished my trip before that date. I had planned on possibly not renewing my pass until November (I wasn't in any rush and figured I'd do it over the phone with Member Services possibly), but now I'm wondering if I renew my pass on Day One of our current trip, will my pass be activated with the new "perks" (free parking, Photopass) or will these new "perks" not kick in until my old pass officially expires. We're actually not staying onsite for the first few days of our trip and if a renewal can save us a bit on parking, I'd just do it right away. I'm thinking they don't kick in yet, but I figured I'd ask.

2) Can the DVC renewal rate be purchased at a guest services location or does it have to be done through DVC over the phone?

2) You can renew in person at WDW. You will need your DVC Member ID Card and all adults (ages 18+) will need to show a Photo ID.
