Annual Pass Questions

I am planning on purchasing an annual pass for my trip in November. I currently have 2 Park Hopper passes left from my last trip for my DW to use and I will buy the AP. I know the clock doesnt start until I actually activate the pass at the park, but, my question is: Will I get newsletters and info on any possible room discounts and what not from here on if I purchase AP now? I really want to make the best of this trip, but need to do it affordably

You will only get the newsletter and access to the Passholder web site after you have activated the voucher or purchase an activated AP. No great loss though. Most all of the info from both is posted all around the net.
Incidentally, for some reason, it takes Disney several months after you get the AP activated to start sending the nesletter - if they ever do. So you'll most likely miss the next one due out after you activate.

I believe you can ask for AP room rates even if you don't have one until you get there.

You are right about the delay in the newsletter. I activated my AP last December and just got my first newsletter yesterday.
