Annual pass questions ?

I am considering an annual pass versus the 3 day PTP tickets. We are visiting Universal as a family of five this August, however, I would like to take my oldest son with me again next year when Kong opens. Is there a sticky or thread somewhere about tickets to Universal? Are the blackout days usually the same year to year? How do I find hotel discounts if I have an AP? Anyone have updates on the King Kong opening? With my luck, I can see me getting the AP and then Kong opens in September 2016.

Remember that "Annual Pass" is a specific entity (with 2 levels) not to be confused with "Power Pass". An AP includes all days of the year and free garage parking. The PP has blackout days and does not include free garage parking.

Depending on if you are staying offsite, you may want an AP for yourself and a PP for your son (as long as the days of your second trip aren't blacked out).

Power Pass actually allows the hotel discounts now, though. (assume it's only valid for discounts when it's not blocked, but it does get you the discount now)
