Hi,

My friend has an annual pass for WDW. I'm not sure which type she has. She said she can use her AP at DL and DCA to get 10% off food and merchandise. Is this a possibility? It would be nice to get a discount on food and souvenirs. Any help is greatly appreciated. :flower1:

I don't think you can do that. The passes are completely separate unless you have a Premier pass which gets you admitted to both coasts.

As mentioned, this would only be true if she has a premier pass which is good at both WDW and DL/DCA.

But I’m guessing she doesn’t since the discounts for that pass are 15% on dining and 20% on merch. Passes with 10% discounts are lower tiers and the discount doesn’t transfer to DLR.

I think there have been reports of WDW/DLR passes getting discounts at some DTD or Disney Springs locations but I wouldn't count on a getting a discount with a WDW AP at DLR (or vice versa)

She wouldn’t get a discount at any Disney owned and operated locations at DLR. They scan the barcode on the back of the AP to grant the discount.

I have the premier pass and at least 3 of my friends do as well. It makes sense in certain situations. I normally have a sig plus pass and if I am planning at least 2 trips to Disney world during my pass year the upgrade makes sense. This pass year I’m going to get either 35 or 36 park days in at wdw in addition to the one to two times a week I go to Disneyland so it made sense to upgrade.

This is my justification for having one too. If I have the sig plus anyway and plan to spend more than 7 days at WDW I upgrade although I don't think I can justify I "save" enough since the latest price increases.

I have several friends who have the premier. One of them lives in OC and has inlaws and a son in Orlando so it makes a lot of sense for her. I'm hoping to tag along with her this year and check out WDW. I've only been once and it was in 1990. It sort of freaks me out because it seems so nerve-wracking to plan so going with someone who knows what they're doing seems nice to me.

OK - now I’ve met three :-). The first was a guy I see every several weeks at the park. He lives about halfway between both, owns his own jet and flies between the two. Or so I’m told :-).

Make that 4! I have a Premier Pass. Although, you met my Mom and I several months ago at the parks. We rode the tram together and I realized who you were from your Cubs hat! We are also Cubs fans.

Oh and back to the original question. I agree with others that I don't think it is likely for her to get discounts with her WDW AP. Although it never hurts to ask. I was at WDW with my friend and a couple places let her use her Disneyland AP for a discount. If they didn't I just paid for both of us with my Premier pass.

Make it 5; I had the Premier Pass as well (alas, it expired earlier this month). I agree, it makes sense if you're already a DLR passholder and are planning on a lengthy (or multiple) visits to WDW. There food discounts aren't as plentiful, but the hotel discount can be pretty good.

To the OP's question, I haven't been able to use my DLR AP at WDW or vice-a-versa (back when I had a WDW AP). Both resorts take the Disney Visa, which offers 10% for merchandise at select locations and discounts at a few of the dining locations as well. Any chance that is what your friend was using?

I'm not sure if she has a Disney Visa. I know she has an AP for WDW because she lives in a town next to Orlando and goes with her big extended family all the time. Maybe she meant the Disney Visa. I just don't know. I'll ask her when I see her. She headed up to New York City Friday to see a Broadway play with the guy who played Loki in the MCU movies. Then she flying to California on Tuesday and I get there on Wednesday afternoon. So I don't want to bother her while she's in NYC. I'll just wait and ask her later. Thank you to everyone for the info. You are all so helpful. Can't wait. Just 5 more days and I'm on a plane to California. :dogdance:

I was never able to use my WDW for discounts at DLR, joined the Premier pass club now though which sadly only has a few months left
