Hey everyone! I have a strange question. My annual passes just expired this week and I have already bought a new annual pass thru DVC, but am not going to activate it until I get down there on July 19. I went into my disney experience and it will not let me reserve fast pass times because there is expired annual passes associated with my account. My question is, I already have an annual pass magic band with my expired annual passes, will I need to go ahead and activate my annual passes to get a new band so I can reserve fast pass times and get my new annual pass linked to a new band or can I still use my old band and just do it all when I get there? I know that is a lot of questions thrown in there all at once, but any ideas?

Have you added the new APs, via the confirmation number, to your MDE account? If not do so and you should then be allowed to make FP+. You will still need to get the actual AP at WDW when you get there and activate those. As far as Magic Bands go, the ones you have now will work with the new AP once you get it at WDW, and you don't need park tickets to get new MBs sent to you via your MDE account; you just need an MDE account and a DVC resort reservation in that account.

There's no difference between old bands and new bands - they all link to the same MDE account. (Nothing is stored on the bands.) Just link your current vouchers to your account and you should be good to go.

I would like to know if this works for you. Last year I tried to enter my confirmation number giving to me by member services. It would not take it on My Disney Experience. I had to wait till I picked up my annual pass at Magic Kingdom. My annual pass will expire in October but we won't be there till November.

If you have problems adding the confirmation number call member services and they can probably fix the problem. It would not work for me recently, but by calling thy solved the problem.

Last year, when the MDE and then FP+ system was new many (and that is an understatement) things did not work correctly on the site for many. It has slowly gotten better since then but, as noted above, if you have an issue it can usually be fixed by calling MS, which has a prompt for MDE issues. We flipped APs in March and the inactivated new ones were usable in the MDE account for FP+ for a May trip. Note, I bought the new ones online and since I signed in with the user name and password that I have for all Disney related sites, my new APs just automatically showed up in my MDE account without my having to add them.

I can only speak to my experience.....but when we had our vouchers (not activated passes yet) we linked them to MDE...We actually had the voucher in hand at home. If you did not get them, and you are picking them up upon arrival, this is a problem. We had ours and linked them (still during the testing phase) and I was able to FP+ ahead of time even though they were not activated yet. When I got to the park and they activated them, they did have a problem activating them because they were already linked with MDE...I believe those issues are fixed (we're talking very early in the testing phase...stayed a night at Pop century before checking in to DVC resort). You absolutely cannot plan FP+ without valid park admission so until you link the new APs, you won't be able to.

I am in process of making my FP+ for our trip and my AP expires partway through the date we are traveling. I just hit the 60 day before my AP expires mark. I called Member Services, they processed my renewal and gave me a confirmation number. I entered that into MDE and it worked perfectly. I was told that I need to go to Guest Relations with my DVC member card, ID and the CC that I used to pay for the renewal to pick up and active the AP when we are at WDW.
