Annual Pass question

Hi everyone. DH and I are planning on going to WDW twice this upcoming year. Doing the math it'll save us money to get annual passes. I was just wondering if we get them before our first trip does the time start then or when we first use them? I was considering getting them before hand so we can start setting up our fast pass +. And also would they send me an actual ticket or it would automatically be placed on my my magic + account? TIA.

You should get a voucher sent to you that you can redeem and activate when you get down there. I purchased a voucher back in June and I will activate it this May when we go. You can use your voucher number for making FP+ reservations on MDE, and then when you get your pass in Disney they will link it to your Magic Band!

I was able to use the confirmation number to be able to make FP+ selections and then activated the pass once we arrived at WDW. No voucher needed - nor received.

If you purchase ahead of time you want the "will call" option. A lot of people have had problems linking voucher numbers to MDE. But the confirmation will call numbers seem to link no problem.

I found it easier to just purchase the AP's once onsite.
