We're looking at getting APs this trip and I'm trying to find the best way to buy them.

I've got one 5 day PH that I got by redeeming airmiles and I'm just going to upgrade that one when we get to DL but I still need to get tix for DH and DS.

Is it better to get 5 day PHs through flightcentre and upgrade them as well or is there a better (read cheaper!) way to get them?

way.com has the deluxe APs for $475 US each, has anyone used this site?

We leave in less than 4 days, I can't believe I left this so late!

never heard of the cheap AP's. I used tickets from Play Stay and Dine and cashed them in at the park towards the AP's. My AP's ... not the deluxe one's cost $616 each.

Its too late to order through Undercover Tourist unless you can pick them up there. Flightcentre may be a good option.

OP is going to DL not WDW.

Does the rule to use your first day to lock in the discount apply at DL as well? If yes, then you should make sure you spend at least one day at the parks on your discounted tix before upgrading or they'll charge you the full uptick anyway when you upgrade.

Yes, sorry if I wasn't clear...these questions are about DL not WDW.

Not sure about the first day rule about upgrading, no one on the DL forum here has ever mentioned it, at least not that I have noticed!

It works that way at wdw, if I buy tickets thru Mousesavers.com I use them 1 day first, which locks in current ticket price to put toward AP.
I have heard Ares Travel sells DL tickets at a discount, and they are reputable. I believe Mousesavers also sells DL tix, but I think you have left it late. Maybe Ares Travel has a pick up place near DL? Also BCAA sells DL tickets at a discount. If you're a member, or know someone who is and willing to get them for you.

You should use your MM before you upgrade. As long as you upgrade before your last day is over. Your AP will be valid from the first day you used your 5 day hopper though, not from the day you upgraded.
Have you checked Flightcenter.ca for hoppers? They usually have good prices.

Thanks for the heads up! If way.com does not work for Canadians, then I'm going with flightcentre for the great prices!

The one problem with not upgrading until our last day is that we will miss out on all the AP discounts. I was planning on using our MM on the very last day we are in CA, so we might as well just upgrade asap, even if it means we miss out on one extra hour on our last day. At least I know we will be back within the year!

I've done all the price comparisons and it looks as though if way.com works out, then it it a better deal to get the APs through them (475.00 instead of 499.00). If way.com does not work out, then getting 5 day PHs from flightcentre.ca and then upgrading at the gate is the best way.

I wish I knew why there was a child's rate for everything except the APs....

If you have not bought your tickets yet....do not buy them from way.com. They are apparently selling tickets that have an expiry date which is not Dec 31/2013. There is some speculation that they may be selling convention tickets.

Thanks for the heads up. I have already bought our APs and I checked that they have an expiry date of December 31, 2014 so we are fine.

At least I hope so!

We are in Vancouver waiting for our final flight to the island so I thought I would update this thread.

The APs we bought from way.com worked perfectly!

The only word of warning is that the expiry date that was printed on the pass originally was one year after the date I bought the passes so I just had the woman at the gate change that before she issued our plastic passes. Since this also happened with the AP that I upgraded from a 5 day park hopper, I don't think this is unique to the way.com passes but it is something to be aware of.

Hope that helps anyone considering using that site.
