Annual Pass Question

I am not a Florida resident and would like to buy an annual pass ($229 on Universal website). Does this pass expire one year from the date I purchase it, one year from my first visit, or is it only good from Jan - December in other words the calendar year. I found this confusing on the website. Thanks

APs expire one year from activation (first visit).

Your AP is valid from the time you go through the gates for the first time for one year.

What is probably confusing you on the website, is that the rules that Universal makes for the AP are good for a calendar year from Jan-Jan. So you may have two different sets of rules for your AP. For example if you buy your pass in Sept and it says you get 15% off multiday passes, that is the rule until Dec. Universal could change that rule to 10% and then starting in Jan. you would only get 10% off multiday passes.

Another question....should I buy the annual pass online or purchase it at the Portofino Hotel when I arrive in August? I am traveling with older children so should I buy their 4 day park to park pass online ($155) or wait until we get to the hotel for the discount? Can I even purchase these passes at the hotel or does it have to be at the park? Thanks again.

You can't purchase annual passes at the hotel. You can pick them up at the hotel kiosk though if you have purchased online. And if you want the annual pass discounts you need to purchase those extra multi day tickets at the park gates if you haven't actually used your AP yet.

It is probably easiest, just to buy everything at the parks if you are doing it all at once.
