The online price quoted for the Annual Pass that I am interested in buying in $329. If I purchase this pass at Disneyland, is the price the same, or more?

Thanks for any, and all replies.

It's the same. If you preorder you can go into the park and then have your photo taken and pass made.

Or you can buy it at the ticket booth then go into the park and have your picture taken and pass made.

Or you can buy ahead a ticket to the park. Then go into the park and pay the difference for your pass. In essence upgrading what ever ticket you had.

No matter how you do it the cost is the same. But depending on how you plan to visit you will want to pick one of these three ways.

This is a good way to go if you aren't staying on site but want to take advantage of MM. It's also good if your initial visit happens when the AP is blocked. So you can buy a 3+ day parkhopper and after you use it for MM you can upgrade to an AP.

So there really is no advantage, price wise, in buying the pass online.

Actually, by purchasing an Annual Pass on the first day of my up and coming trip to Disneyland in April I will be able to spend more days in the park on that trip, and I can save on another trip that I am hopefully going to make next year either in the Summer or at Halloweentime next year.

Thanks.

Did you notice the details PinkLavendar wrote of.

There is no price advantage. But if you go during a period that has a black out date for the delux or you want an MM you could buy a PH before and upgrading on your last day in the park.

In the end you don't get more Disney park days because the AP will be backdated to the first day you use the PH or day ticket to get into the park. BUT, you get that extra hour of MM and maybe a blackout day during your visit that you couldn't use you AP on.

But you might give up some discounts while there.

I am arriving on a Wednesday. At least that is what I am planning to do. So actually, I could buy a ticket in order to get a Magic Morning, and then upgrade to an Annual Pass afterwards. I am not traveling during any blackout times, so that doesn't apply here.

I have never been in January, but I am assuming that it isn't as crowded as the Summer, and holiday times when I have traveled in the past.

So One Magic Morning would be my benefit to purchasing a ticket now, and updating in the parks after using it.

That's correct. you can do the MM with a 3 day or more PH. In your case on Thursday or Saturday. MM is also on Sunday and Tusday.

PS. go into Greetings in DCA to get you AP it's much faster than in DL It's on the left after you go under the bridge.

I appreciate everyone's help. Now one more question. If I go the ticket route with the upgrade later, does anyone know if I can use the Disney Rewards Dollars on my Disney Visa to pay for the upgrade?

I really appreciate all the speedy answers today.

I am not totally set on my actual dates yet, but as soon as I am, I am ready to make all my plans since I am now armed with all the answers to my questions.

Again, thanks.

So glad you got sufficient replies! Happy planning.

I have a quick question about the upgrading.... you basically pay the difference of what you ACTUALLY pay for your tickets right.. not the value of the tickets. So if you get a slight deal on the park hoppers, it wont matter in the end if you upgrading to an annual pass since your total price out of pocket will be the price of the annual pass...

Does that make sense?? Sorry it sounds confusing..

it is the same even at the ticket booths. they do not do any special deals on the passes. :guilty: Not even if you live in southern california. sorry!

i think the price of the tickets that you paid for goes toward the pass..or something like that. gosh its been so long since i had to think about that im sorry a bit rusty.. it was happens when you have a pass you forget these things!

but umm the best thing about the pass is the discounts.. after 2 or 3 days of usage with discounts , that pass is almost paid itself off..

Ok thanks. It's been a few years since we have had passes, but are planning3 trips :cool1: within a year, so its defintely worth it for us. I was just hunting around for the best park hoppers (to start our 1st trip with), but then it just occured to me that the total net cost will be $329 in the end anyway... so it really shouldn't matter much where I buy our hoppers.

This is correct. Any "deal" you get on a ticket is essential lost when you upgrade to an AP.

Cost of upgrade = cost of AP - amount paid

If you have a free GAD, the assigned value of a one day ticket (depending upon age), is considered the "amount paid."

No it will be all the same.

But did you see what was written in post#4 by Lavendar?

If you upgrade the PH to an AP the AP is back dated to the first day you used your PH.

So before you buy your PH consider if you will be there during black out days for the delux AP or if you want a MM.

Also consider if you want to be able to use a AP discount when you get there.

I have decided to purchase a 6 day pass online. I have done this before. I know that it comes with one Magic Morning feature. That means that if I arrive on a Monday, or a Wednesday, I can use the Magic morning feature the following day. I can then upgrade to the Annual Pass before I use the entire 6 days up. I like having the ticket on my person when I arrive in California, because that means that I can go immediately into the park after checking into my hotel. I am planning on staying at the HoJo.

I haven't been to Disneyland in 2 years. I have never been there in a slower month like January. I am looking forward to a very relaxing long Disneyland vacation. I may make it 8 nights now instead of my original 7.

Part of my vacation will be spent with friends, but more than 1/2 of my days will be just glorious alone time at Disneyland. I can hardly wait.

Yeah we are aware of the "back dating" of the AP.. but really if I started with an AP then the pass would start at the first part of our trip anyway, so I am not really losing days. We will definitely get the hoppers to take advantage of a MM though. We are going during the week, so no blackout days apply to us anyway. I am just always trying to find the best deal for our trips... but realized that with our upgrade plan our total cost wasn't going to be affected and so I needed to stop stressing the best "ticket' price.
Anyway, thanks everyone!
