does your AP renewal date start the date of purchase or the date you get the actual card at the park. So if I buy online today and pick up on Saturday (next week) when does my AP activate?
thanks

It is a year from the date it is "activated" at the parks.

If you upgrade from a park hopper, it is the first day you used the hopper.

Can I renew our AP in November with park hopper tickets? We first used the AP in October 2015 and we are returning November 23 of this year. I'm thinking I need to activate our PH tickets before I can renew, is that correct? TIA

The renewal date is based on first day you use your AP to enter the park or when you exchange your voucher for an AP at the ticket booth, whichever comes first. In other words, if you go to the park on Saturday and exchange your voucher for an AP, the renewal date will be based on Saturday's date regardless of whether you enter the park or not. (Sometimes people like to get the exchange out of the way on the night they arrive so that they don't have to spend any time dealing with it on their first day in the parks.)

You can upgrade your PH tickets to an AP in November, but you won't be able to renew your existing AP because it will have already expired. According to the Disneyland AP FAQ, you cannot renew an AP once it's expired (there used to grace period after the expiration date, but they've done away with that).

That's what I thought, thanks for your response. Doesn't mean we can't purchase new APs in November though!!

Found this on MDE, by the way it reads I have 30 days from my first use date to renew. I think it was October 28, 2015 ( or later) and I am returning November 23, 2016.

Q.

My Annual Pass will expire soon. Is there a discount for renewing?

A.

Yes. As a courtesy, we offer a discount for renewing your Walt Disney World Annual Pass up to 30 days after your Anniversary Date.

There are 3 convenient ways to renew your Annual Pass:

  1. Renew online
  2. Renew at any Walt Disney World Resort theme park ticket window or Disney Springs Guest Relations location.
  3. Renew over the phone by calling (407) 560-PASS or (407) 560-7277. Guests under 18 years of age must have parent or guardian permission to call.
If you are renewing through the Monthly Payment Program for Florida residents, phone renewals are not available. However, you can renew online, in person at a theme park ticket window or Guest Relations location. Annual Passes can be renewed up to 60 days before and 30 days after expiration.

Though the Annual Pass owner does not need to be present for renewal, each Annual Pass owner will need to be present at the ticket window to receive his or her pass.

The info you just posted relates to Disney World Annual Pass renewals. This is the Disneyland board so the previous poster assumed you were asking about Disneyland renewal policies. The two parks do not have the same ticketing/AP renewal policies.

If you have a Disney World AP, you cannot use or renew it at Disneyland. There is the Premier AP that is good at both parks and you can upgrade a valid Disney World AP to the Premier.
