Hello,

Going to Disneyland in a couple of weeks and plan to upgrade the 5 day park hopper to an annual pass. We really want to go again around Christmas time this year. Does anyone know how much of a discount you get at the Grand Californian if you are an annual pass holder?

Thanks!

Bumping this up!:thumbsup2 Hopefully some one with an AP will be around soon to help!

The normal discount is 10% off the regular rate.

Periodically DLR will offer special annual passholder rates--they had them last year in November I know--but those have come out for the Fall yet (the last special rate expires tomorrow). Usually these are only offered during "off-season" periods.

Two other things:

once you get your AP you can go on the passholder website and see what the rate is for each of the three hotels with the AP.

and if you have someone over (I think) 60 traveling with you there is a seniors' rate reduction of 30% which is often better than the AP rate.

Thanks for the speedy response. 10% will give me some idea to work with. My wife would really like to stay at the Grand Californian but it is always such a hard choice to spend that much extra money for the convenience of being so close. Of course I would love to stay there too but it seems like it is twice as much as many of the local hotels.

The discount on the grand isn't all that grand lol.... Don't buy the AP strictly for the discounts. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Every time i have used it, only part of my reservation could be booked for the special rate. but this is just my experience.

Last November I got a standard room at GCH on the special AP rate of $269. This past March/April we were going to stay for $300 a night in a standard room but ended up using vacation club points instead.

Thanks, we were going to get the AP anyway. What I would REALLY like to do is get a short, weekend trip in as a surprise for our anniversary. It seems like the GC might already be booked during the dates in Dec that we wanted to go. Not sure but everytime I put the dates in Disneyland website he won't let me.

The thing you have to remember is that there is the standard AP discount which is not great; but there are also special AP-holder promotions which is where the true savings are.

Last November I stayed at the GCH for $229 with a booked DTD view.

I also stayed end of last August for $169/night with a DTD view at the DLH.

The above rates were the special AP4 rates. This promotion ran something like Aug 22 to Dec 15th, 2007. I did not have a problem booking rooms; but sometimes like weekends you have to call several times to get the availability.

This January I stayed at the DLH for about $200 a night (inc taxes/fees) for a DTD view as well (called AP5).

Those are pretty good deals off the rack rate.

If you are going during the holidays (Dec 15th thru beginning of Jan) don't expect a special promotional discount using an AP.

Yeah, I mean the 10% is better then nothing. But can feel that way when you look at the total. LOL For one night next week at the DLH, was $300. We got it for $270. It helped, but wish it was more!

Does anyone know when they released the AP4 rates last year and if it's likely there will be special AP discounts (above the standard 10%) this year? I got an AP last fall strictly for the discounts. Getting the PP concierge for $169 really made sense for my family of 5, we saved a ton of money on food. I am going back sometime before mid-November when my AP expires and while I'm planning on staying offsite, I might be lured on if there were great rates like that again!

I got an AP just to get the hotel discount, although we already have the senior discount and it's pretty good. The CM I spoke to said August would be the release of AP7 (?) I think rates. That's an excellent idea to do PP conciege with the discount for the food perks! :thumbsup2
