Maybe somebody here can explain to me how this works exactly?
Back in late March early April I made a reservation for a multiple night stay at a water view room at the BC for this Fall. Waiting for an AP rate to come out one finally did (as you all know) a couple weeks or so ago now. Unfortunately the dates of my stay for this type of room were not available.
I remained vigilant and continued looking each day and finally found that the last 4 nights of my stay were available for this room and hotel. So basically I called and had that portion of our stay changed such that we have two reservations for the same dates and room as our original reservation but now the first 5 nights are at regular rate and the last 4 are at AP rate. With me so far on this?
Being ever vigilant and persistent in my watch I continued to look everyday for availability for our stay. Sure enough just the other day I happened to look at an AP rate came out for our entire stay for the dates we originally booked. I went ahead and booked this and was going to cancel the other "split" up reservation (the half regular rate and half AP rate) but noticed something that was odd to me.
When I looked at the individual days for the last 4 nights of the split reservation, the ones with the AP discount, I noticed all days were discounted. But when I look at this new reservation for the AP rate for our entire stay I now note that the week-end day that was discounted on this other reservation is now at regular rack rate??? Again, same hotel, same room type.
Of course I'm planning on calling but am confused how one AP reservation can have the same date and room and hotel be at two different rates with one not being an AP rate at all? In fact the longer reservation has all the week-end dates at regular rate? The week-day rates are the same for either?
Is this because with a longer stay they are simply saying they are not going to discount each day? Of course I plan on calling but just wanted to see what folks here had to say?
Thanks
