Not sure where to post this...My boyfriend and I are planning on going in Feb with his two boys. (2,3). I have an annual pass. We wouldnt have to pay for tickets for the 2 year old correct? My question is are we allowed to participate in the DDP or if a free DDP comes out for our dates? I just am wondering if having a annual pass messes with that?

The issue with having an annual pass is that to get free dining, you still have to purchase at least 2 day park tickets for everyone age 3 or over as part of a package reservation. You can keep those tickets indefinitely or you can use them toward your annual pass renewal.

As an annual passholder you can book a ticketless package (just the room and dining, no tickets) which you can do online if you book on the passholder site. But to get free dining you would have to add tickets.

Children under 3 do not need tickets, they also are not allotted any dining credits on the plan.

PP is correct. You can (1) keep the 2 day ticket to use as credit towards your AP renewal or for a new AP if you allow your pass to expire (2) allow the ticket to be reassigned to someone else for a future trip. (3) hold the ticket for yourself for a future trip if you let your AP expire. Just be sure on going into the parks that your AP is used and not the 2 day ticket assigned to you.

The free dining is sold as part of a package which requires a ticket purchase. However, you can just purchase a 2 day ticket regardless of the length of your trip. When you arrive you have the 2-day ticket removed from your magic band. They will give you a hard copy and you can save it for another time. You could also just let your boyfriend use it for 2 of the days but thats really not cost effective. For free dining every one has to be on the same plan which means he and the 3 year old would also have to get a 2-day ticket but these could then be upgraded to whatever length of time needed.
If you just want to add the DDP to your room only reservation then you are not required to buy tickets as part of the package, so you would be getting a room, adding the DDP and buying the tickets separately, in which case you are covered since you already have a ticket or an AP.

You cannot add DDP to a room only reservation. It has to be a package. There are ticketless packages available for just room and dining. as an annual passholder you can book these online via the passholder site, but those who are not annual passholders have to call to book them. If you have a room only reservation already, they have to cancel it and rebook as a package in order to add a dining plan.

Actually you can add the DDP to a room only reservations, we are doing exactly this for our April trip. You just have to have your trip paid for and add the DDP at least 5 days before arrival. We booked our room with the Spring room only discount and then added the DDP.

No, you can't. No matter what they told you, it's now a package. Because you are within 45 days and already paid off, you didn't notice how it was changed. The reason you have to do it more than 5 days ahead is that charges are incurred if a room-only reservation is cancelled within 5 days. And, a "room only" discount can almost always be applied to the room portion of a package.

And your reservation was converted to a package at the time you added the plan. This is important. Some who do the conversion might not understand that the terms change when this happens. Instead of full payment at check-in, payment has to be 45 days out and package cancellation guidelines would then apply. May not be a big deal when you are 6 days out but there are some who might try to do it earlier and then not understand that they now have to pay it off at 45 days instead of when they check in.

So when you booked a room only and added the dining plan did you add tickets or are you an annual pass holder? I got free tickets with airmiles and looked at renting DVC but my hotels are booked :( now I want to maybe book a moderate and then JUST the dining but I only have the 7 day tickets. Could I upgrade them to annual pass now and get just the dining plan or am I not able to upgrade till I'm in disney?

You can book a ticketless package which is room and dining. It WILL NOT be free dining. You have to add 2 days of tickets for that.

I've never heard of tickets like that, but upgrades need to be done in person at GR. Some types of complimentary tickets are not upgradable. I don't know if yours are or not.
